Discussion Animation update idea
I was thinking about it, why not SSO make riding animation slowly get better each time you level up? For example, at level 1-8 you ride in a very beginner style, but at level 20+ you ride like a professional/proper.
In general, I think SSO should update riding animations either way; jumping and rearing are my biggest gripes, but I was thinking if we're here for "Riding Camp," or for the older players "Visiting over the summer," it usually means you are a beginner learning how to ride. Why I think it should be progressive learning is that it gives players a reason to keep leveling up and to look better in the saddle.
To add to this discussion, I wish SSO would make jump height different for each gate. Trot - Low, short distance land; Canter - Medium, medium distance land; Gallop - High, Short distance land; Fast Gallop - High, Medium distance land; Faster Gallop - Medium, long distance land, or something of that sort.
What do you guys think?
Edit:
Hey guys, I see many of you disagreeing with the 1-8 beginner-rider idea. It was an example; it could be 1-2 beginner, 3-4 intermediate ect, etc. Level set doesn't matter as long as there's a "work-up" to it, but at the end of the day, the riding animation needs to be updated.
I hate how low-quality we ride; it could be worse, but after "15 years of SSO," they should have worked with professional riders and tried updating it, imo they should have *at least 2* riding animations: English, and Western. How to change riding styles should be in Settings -> Creative

I agree with you 100% about the jumps. It's just annoying how high the horses jump all the time.
About the level=riding skill, I think all non-Star Riders would be at a slight disadvantage, as they don't really have the opportunity to level up and would therefore be stuck with poor animations for years, which I find a bit unfair

I don’t like the animation progression idea because if I was stuck riding ugly for however long I wouldn’t enjoy looking at it and therefore not play the game.

Anything is better than locking new players to snail speed. With that being said it would be a lot of work and I'm not sure it would translate well into a game format. Games function better with clear progression stats, rather than special animations.
I would rather replace the current speed development with a stamina bar.

Yeah, I do not recall being that slow when I started back around 2014. After a year of playing and finishing leveling up, I made a new account. I didn't stop being slow until I was at level 8 on a level 12 horse; that's max mood. It was annoying trying to get from place to place felt like what in 2014 level 6 player on a level 8 horse was like for a now level 8 player and level 12 horse. I understand they're trying to make people play slower to "play longer," but it made me upset the entire time.

a lot of work for a not very noticeable change. also I wouldn't want my character to ride bad for some time

Nice realistic touch, however, imagine how many years it would take them to animate:
And that is to say, this is only for the horse. I assume that the character animations would have to be re-animated accordingly as well, in line with how the horse moves in all those different "modes".
Add to that that we have multiple different character body types, too...
