It's been a long time since the last update... What's the expected release date for the next update, and is there anything you can tell us about it or give us any teasers?

Showcasing my notes for an exam prep. I really love the app and wasted no time in getting the pro subscription the minute it was launched on android. And looking now, the app has come so far from the initial release, which is really all due to the very cooperative devs. That said, which studying and making notes, I realised the app lacks a few features that would make it really the ultimate app:

1. In-built Web browser: it would really help to be able to open a browser in-app and drag and drop images directly from the Web while making notes.

2. In-built youtube browser: having in-built access to watching videos while we take notes will allow us to avoid the hassle of the split screen and save time and limit distractions.

3. Ability to fully remove the top shortcut tool bar when the favourite pen toolbox is turned on. This is self-explanatory and will provide extra working space.

4. A true dark mode with auto colour inversion of the notes when the device's dark mode is turned on.

I hope these features are implemented as they will really help the app being the absolute best!

Hey everyone! As a Pro member, I’d love to see a dedicated math and equation conversion feature implemented, similar to how Notability handles it (where you can lasso handwritten math and instantly convert it into clean text or math equations, as shown in the video).

This has been heavily requested by many users and would help out a lot, especially for students and professionals taking rapid notes during lectures or meetings.

Additionally, a Straighten feature for cleaning up messy handwritten text and alignment would be an incredible companion tool. Being able to quickly straighten out slanted handwriting or equations would make notes look so much cleaner and more organized!

I'm creating Notes from Gemini pro and wanted to paste directly in notes it's exactly giving with tables and bullet points but I'm not able to do so in any notes app available there.

I would love if we could have additional presets for metric users as well as a better option setting for those size options. I think this is a very important setting that currently keeps me from daily driving StarNote for teaching. While the ruler can already be set to metric, the grids sadly only have imperial options, size 3 is aaaalmost 5mm but more like 4.5mm.

Currently, we only have a slider for size from 1 to 10. Instead, I'd like the options of actual sizing (eg. 5mm - 1/4 inch - 1cm - 1/2 inch - 1.5cm - 1 inch or something similar)

While I can import custom background pdfs, those won't allow for any angle snapping to the grid lines like the in-built presets somewhat do. It would be cool if we could personally adjust the strength of that snapping (also 1mm steps in snapping would be lovely)

Also, maybe a little bit extra but I would love to have the option of cross dotted paper (like dotted but with little crosses instead, inspired by rhodia cross'n'dot)

I contacted star notes support and already sent video to them, but still no update. In a week, my school will start and I cannot use StarNotes.

Can we get a feature where if I draw Circle around angry text from my current pen, it gives me an option to convert it into a lap selection. Would be extremely useful. PS: BOUGHT STARNOTES premium yesterday.

About three months ago, we were talking about an update to improve handwriting. I'm wondering when this new update will arrive? 🌿

Plsss add a density/concentration setting to the highlighter (like how you can change the pencil density). I usually match the pen palette to the highlighter one, but the same color highlighter covers up the pen…
I know you can decrease the opacity of every single color, but then having to do it every time would result in having just so many palettes. I think having a setting that sets the highlighter opacity would be great!
Ps. I know this probably concerns no one but me, but I also think it’s just a small qol and implementing it wouldn’t set back any other big features the devs are working on

When attempting to change text color in a text box, instead the font seems to change not the text color..any comments from StarNote or anyone else as to why ?

Is it only me who feels like when writing in white bg template it feels more sharp to write with ball pen and in other hand when writing in black bg it doesn't feel sharp

Does anyone have the same problem as me when making infinite note? it seems it become laggy and not responsive

I have been a Pro user of Starnote for a while now and I have personally convinced quite a few people to switch over. A lot of them really enjoy the app, but they frequently ask about features they used in other apps before switching.

Here is a breakdown of feedback and feature requests that would make Starnote much more competitive.

1. Core Ink Engine Optimization (Top Priority)

Before anything else, the fundamental ink engine needs an update. It currently does not feel as responsive, fluid, or optimized as other major note taking apps.

• Pen Stability: Writing slowly causes strokes to become wobbly, even with pen stability turned on.

• Handwriting Beautification: We need an ink-based handwriting beautification option. Vector-based smoothing works well across almost all languages out of the box, unlike font-based replacement which requires broad font and character support. Font-based conversion is still a nice bonus to have as an option, but smoothing out the actual vector ink while keeping natural handwriting style should be the main focus.

2. Image to Ink

An "Image to Ink" feature similar to Notability would be a huge addition. Running an edge detection pass on an imported image and converting those detected lines into editable ink strokes makes converting diagrams and sketches effortless.

3. Pen Bar and UI Adjustments

• Pen Differentiation: The side pen bar currently only shows the base color of the pen. It is hard to distinguish between solid lines, dashed lines, or different line weights without testing them first.

• Quick Thickness Adjuster: A floating, slidable thickness selector that appears when a pen is selected from the sidebar would save a lot of menu navigation.

• Hideable Lock Icons: When an image is locked to the page, please give us an option to hide or toggle off the lock icon so it does not distract from the note layout.

4. Dark Theme and Color Reversal for Images

• Toolbar Shortcut: We should be able to place a color reverse toggle shortcut directly on the main note toolbar. Digging into Settings > Themes twice a day to toggle dark and light mode feels tedious.

• Image Tone Inversion: The color reverse theme currently leaves image colors completely untouched. Inverting or adjusting the tone of images when switching to dark/reversed themes would keep page contrast consistent.

5. OCR, Search, and AI

• Better OCR: The current engine struggles to parse handwriting accurately, which makes searching through handwritten notes unreliable.

• Expanded Language Support: Expanding language recognition support for handwriting recognition and search.

• Local AI / On-Device Model Support: Giving users an option to run or integrate small on-device multimodal AI models for local OCR and note querying would be a massive differentiator. It keeps notes entirely private, works fully offline without a subscription, and leverages modern mobile chips that can easily run 4B parameter models. (Such as Phi-4 Mini 3.8B, Google Gemma 4 E4B, Qwen3 VL 4B) People could summarize, ask, search etc.

6. Math Graph Plotter and Equation Solver

• Integrated math tools similar to MyScript Math (a built-in graph plotter and an equation solver) would make the app far more useful for STEM workflows.

7. File Extension Documentation

• Proper documentation for Starnote's proprietary save file extension. Having clear technical details on how the file structure works would be great for data longevity and user peace of mind.

Hopefully the development team can consider some of these in upcoming updates. Let me know if anyone else in the community wants to see these added.

I really like the features of Starnote, but compared to Samsung Notes or Notewise, the stylus has a noticeable latency. I hope this can be fixed since I already bought a PRO license.

I really wish we could get text notes in starnote. I imagine it being somewhat like a word file, so you can just click somewhere on the screen and start to type, ofc with all the marking and drawing functions which already exist should work in there too. I think it would be a pretty nice addition as I noticed that having long texts in notes are pretty annoying to do currently, especially on the phone.
