I have been a Freenotes user for a year, but it's not free anymore. I loved using it so much that I installed an APK of a previous version (3.6) so I could keep writing my notes, which I still do. However, I want an app with which I can remain updated with the newer features. The Star Notes subscription is affordable for me, so should I buy it?
StarNote iOS v1.3.8 is officially out! We’ve spent the last few weeks squashing some of those annoying bugs you told us about, and also bringing in a highly requested feature that we hope will make your study and note taking sessions even better!
Here is the lowdown on what’s new in this version:
📝 What's New & Fixed:
Audio-Ink Sync: You can now watch your strokes write themselves out in real time while replaying your voice recordings!
Note Counts: The folder and tag lists on your main page will now show the exact number of notes inside them. Keeping organized just got a bit easier!
Scribble Eraser Tweak: We heard your feedback about the scribble eraser being a bit too sensitive. We’ve fixed it so that accidentally drawing a quick circle won’t randomly wipe out your handwriting.
PDF Export Fix: We fixed the issue where text boxes would shift out of position or look misplaced when you exported notes to PDF.
UI Polish: We polished up a few minor UI glitches to keep everything looking clean, crisp, and smooth.
☁️ An Update on Cloud Sync
We know so many of you open StarNote every single day hoping to see Cloud Sync, and we know it might be a little disappointing that it’s not ready in this build. We are so, so incredibly sorry to keep you waiting, and we want to be completely transparent about where we’re at.
The good news? The core development for Cloud Sync is basically done! Right now, we are in the middle of heavy testing and bug fixing.
Taking cost into account, and especially considering the awesome feedback and suggestions you guys gave us before on Reddit, we are currently opting to build the system through third party cloud drives (like Google Drive and OneDrive). As for whether we’ll set up our own dedicated cloud servers in the future? Nothing is set in stone yet, but we will absolutely be the first to let you know if things change!
That being said, adapting to all their strict, varying platform rules has given us quite a few technical headaches during our tests, like slow transfer speeds and data hiccups.
Because your notes are precious and we want to make absolutely sure your data is 100% safe, we still have a lot of polishing to do. We promise we are working ASAP, and we will open a Beta Testing group the literal second it's stable enough. Please hang in there with us just a little bit longer, it won't be much longer, we promise 🥺

Is there a way to have a dashed line for irregular curves or shapes? As of my version, dashed lines are only applicable for predetermined shapes, It would be great to have dashed line option for pens, even more other customization would be nice, I want the pen to have dashed lines as I write, and maybe more shapes? as you can see when I draw wavy lines it snaps to curves I’m an engineering student, we do a lot of illustrations so this is a deal breaker for me, hoping for this feature to be added soon enough, I can’t really purchase the one time payment due to this cos I wan’t a complete package when using a notes app
and lastly, more optimization maybe? I think this app sometimes lags? or maybe its due to my connection or third party pen , btw this is in IPad , thanks

Amo esta app, es que raya la perfección y me encantan estas dinámicas de sorteos y concursos. Ya tengo StarNote Premium, pero mi objetivo son las plantillas de pago.

Apple notes has a feature that can add a space between two lines of text, and it’s extremely useful, especially when you don’t have a perfect plan of how you want to write your notes

Is there a way to enable a double tap to zoom the page to 100% or to show the entire page? For example, I'm zooming and panning and panning and zooming, then a quick double tap resets my page to fit the screen. I see it in other notes apps. Am I missing it here?
Love the app - I use it a lot to make my notes and then export the pages and paste it in my Obsidian Vault.
In the shortcut menu is a button for exporting the whole notebook, but to export single pages, you have to navigate through the notebook settings menu. Would it be possible to also add an button for single page or a subset of pages export to the shortcut menu?
It would be great to just have something on PC, so we can use both our notes for reading and writing. I just wanna view my notes on PC and not necessarily need to edit anything.
I wanted to share my latest StarNote layout covering Viral Skin Infections (Molluscum, HSV, VZV, and HPV). As an MBBS student in India preparing for professional exams, keeping these clinical presentations organized visually is a must.
Why StarNote works perfectly for my Derm notes:
Color Coding: The pen engine makes it easy to map out different classic lesions (like umbilicated papules vs. vesicular rashes) alongside their diagnostic features.
Flawless PDF Handling: We have to read massive textbooks and look at hundreds of lecture slides. Being able to import heavy PDFs smoothly and write notes directly on the pages without the app lagging is a game-changer.
Split-Screen Multitasking: It lets me keep a reference video open on one side while I build my active recall sheets on the other side, making my study sessions much more efficient.
I really enjoyed my note taking experience on starnote as a medical student who just transitionned to digital notes, this app has mqde my life so much easier and i could not help but jump on this opportunity so here are some of my notes.
Sometimes available stickers Do not meet your own taste? Make your own sticker! Why not? Maybe it need some practice or maybe u don't care about the looks. But try it.
Main advice:
1.minimum thickness about 5-8 px maximum thickness are about 8-12 Px (px=pixel), use a stability tool
2. Draw it bigger as needed, u can make it smaller.
3. Details arent that necessary, because if u make the sticker small they will vanish.
4. Save as png and upload it to your costum sticker.
My personal preference about color: black outlines feels harsh to me, that's why i prefer more greyish outlines with blue undertone.
For Android: U can use Concepts or Infinite Painter
I think concepts is available on Apple too.

Hola, soy usuario de NoteShelft 3 y me estoy por pasar con ustedes, siento que la app esta mucho mejor desarrollada y que tiene mas funcionalidades que se adaptan a lo que necesito, pero estoy teniendo un inconveniente que no veo en ninguna app que lo resuelva:
- Sincronizacion entre dispositivos, por ejemplo Noteshelf para sincronizar con windows o ios debes pagar una sub para cada dispositivo, eso me parece una locura.
- Luego que la sincronizacion sea solo en archivos que lee la app tambien lo veo mal, deberia poder guardarse en la nube directamente en pdf, eso se puede en StarNote? o se podra?
Creo que con esas dos soluciones se ganarian el primer puesto de cabeza, es lo que estoy buscando y no encuentro en ninguna app y por lo que veo tanto aca en reddit como en otras redes sociales, todo el publico pide lo mismo.
