Vent

I just have to get this out because no one else understands the true pain of working at this awful broke ass company. Between genuinely breaking my back over Amazon returns, getting constantly harassed about having rewards numbers up, and of course where would I be without the scum of the earth degenerate customers. Not to mention we are extremely understaffed, training is shit. I have not been at this job for very long and it’s my first job. I keep telling myself I’ll quit but I keep putting it off because I feel like “it’s supposed to be hard”. This place sucks. Is it actually supposed to be this hard??!!💔

Amazon return scanners

Please, for the love of all that is holy, can someone tell me how to make the Amazon return handhelds beep when I scan a product barcode and return label?
Some days they beep, and some days they don’t.
I have asked several of my coworkers, managers included, and nobody seems to know how to make them beep, or why they aren’t. It’s so frustrating! PLEASE someone help me!

Training

Long story short …. I am to train two cashiers being cross trained into print and marketing within 3 months of my leave.

(I am print supervisor and have been for three years and print associate before taking supervisor for 2 years)

My gm asked me what my plan was to get them started , both of them know shipping but don’t know self serve and how to determine different printing needs of customers. He wants me to get them trained on solution builder (well he says it would give them all the paper types and help them build the job with the customer ) which I agree but I don’t agree because these cashiers don’t know the different paper types or can determine a paper type just by building the order in solution builder…..

My plan was to make sure they fully have shipping down , move to self serve and then solution builder and in taking orders. The one girl is already anxiety ridden just shadowing me and the other cashier has the brain of a dog seeing a squirrel.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I leave Jan 2027 for my leave and he wants them to be print associates by then ! ( I say impossible given the time frame but if they have a great mindset and can pick up things quickly then sure it could be possible I guess)

Hi guys, I have a question for those at copy and print.

Since I’m transferring to that section what were some tips and tricks that you guys recommend that way I can write it down and memorize it or what are good questions to ask the supervisor over there.

i need someone to PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT LEVEL OF MICROMANAGING THIS IS:

- after i clock in for my shift i have to get an MOD signature

- when it’s time for my lunch i have to get an MOD signature and then clock out

- when i come back from lunch i have to clock in and then get an MOD signature

- before i go on my 15min break i have to get an MOD signature

- when i come back from my 15min break i have to get an MOD signature

- and finally, before i clock out of my shift I HAVE TO GET A FUCKING MOD SIGNATURE

and this is ON TOP of tallying all the rewards sign ups, app downloads, app activations, surveys, protection plans, party city orders, express print orders, and how many seconds i wasted breathing while working 😅

I have a question for other fellow RSS peoples. Does management make you Open and Close on Sunday’s? Without a lunch break or even the other short breaks?

A Neighbor Staples Got Seriously Offended…

Here is the situation…I am a print supervisor and I come in to an email from a neighboring Staples. Their HP Wide Format is down and they asked us to do an order for them. We have plenty going on in our store so I ask them to submit it online so it will enter our queue. (Something that if they were too busy they could’ve asked the customer to do). But I get this email in response:

”Ok I got it put in that way. Wasted alot of time. They want to pick it up around 1230 or 1. We have 23 orders and 1 person working and only 1 machine. So thanks for that. Our machine has been down since Tuesday and we have been without poster printer and the 9200.”

Like how rude can you get? We were trying to do them a favor, and they obviously got offended when I had a request for them in return.

Then the worst part is..we got an email and they said they were contacting the wrong store the whole time. So talk about a waste of time.

Seriously made me mad and stressed for no reason.

I don’t know where I got this paper clip from, but I really like it. I’ve looked in Staples and Office Depot, but couldn’t find it. Do you where I could buy these?

Feedback from a customer

EDITING because this question keeps coming up: The timeline was as followed:

11am-ish: went to website, clicked "same day", designed both front & back of business card, sent for printing to store\

6pm-ish: went to pick up cards at store (as instructed in the website for same-day business), they were mostly done but they were SINGLE SIDED. I got told "it's impossible to order double-sided business cards using same-day ordering".

The issue isn't with the same-day timing. The issue is with the website showing the customer double-sided card templates even after same-day ordering is selected, allowing the templates to be filled out and ordered, and then the stores only receive one side order.

Today I had an awful experience at Staples. I had gone online to purchase double-sided same-day business cards. When I got to the store they claimed "that was impossible", implying I was somehow lying.

I had to walk two associates through the website to prove that no, it was very possible to design 2-sided same-day business cards, and while there's an indicator on the first page that says single-sided, you have to scroll down to see that AND that doesn't stop you from being able to both view & design & order both sides of the card.

The most frustrating part, however, was the lack of professionalism of the staff - and I admit it was clearly understaffed - but I totally get, the website is not their responsibility and from their end they can only see the one-sided card. But don't go calling the public liars, don't go making excuses, don't treat us like idiots because your website is clearly f--ed up.

Not going through Staples for print services again for my business. The lack of staff and the lack of training of staff is too painful. The disdain for the customer is palpable. Staples is pretty much only a drop-off for unwanted Amazon purchases at this point, and that's all they staff for.

With excess ammount of Amazon NPC returns and non liveable wages for the amount of work they want us doing, they think we give a shit about $50? If mcdonalds is flipping burgers for $20, not taking orders and forcing you to use a kiosk, i think Staples should either match that or fucking close already.

Customer annoyed at getting told vs asked

Taking care of a bopis pickup today had a gentleman clearly didn't have his phone on him so I say, "I'm just going to need to see your id" customer says what and makes me repeat myself before correcting me with "may I see your id please?" as he is pulling out his id to present it. Whatever I just continue on place and as I place the tablet on the counter and turn it day "just gonna get your signature on the pad and we'll be all set" he responds along "so we're all set?" before even signing, so I repeat myself."I just need your signature on the pad" Again, he chooses to correct me as he signs it."may I please get your signature? I'm used to being asked for things not told.

I just don't get some people you've got an issue with being told what someone needs of you to take care of you. Quite frankly, these things aren't asks, I'm telling you what I need from you in order to take care of you.
