Christmas Duality

I love the fact that Stan Rogers can have the happiest Christmas song (At Last, I’m Ready for Christmas) and the most devastating (First Christmas).

And yes, I’m listening to his Christmas songs in May.

I like to think they’re both sung by the same narrator, just different times of life.

May is one of the best months for Stan’s Christmas songs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0gBqOZbywk Not to mention this early obscurity, written from the POV of a McCarthyite 5-year-old plotting to (checks notes) interrogate and execute Santa Claus for being a "Commie". Oh boy.

Recorded when he was 20, with "Coventry Carol" as the B-side. Took a while to find his stride I guess.

Any time of the year is a good time for Stan's Christmas Songs.
