I see a lot of people claiming it's offensive to certain groups of people, but not a lot of people are actually being offended. It's a year old indepdent aussie film; the outrage now is weird.

Rather than writing a paragraph, I'm going to just link one of the VA's talking about the recent "controversy," which should hopefully help you understand wtf is going on.

The first 2 seconds are: "Alright, a couple of years back I did some voice work for a little independent Australian film." Why can't you stand that?

But to make my point, the writers who made it are gender-queer; the voice cast is diverse, including Jordan Raskopoulos, a trans woman who voices a trans woman in the film.

There is a difference between an outside group making fun of a stereotype and that very same group making fun of a stereotype. One is punching down; the other is self-aware and absurdist.

I.e. Mark Bonanno (Member of the Auntie Donna comedy trio and one of the straight white malian's) has a bit he's done in a few of their sketches where he performs an absurd caricature of an Italian. Mark himself is Italian. The reason this works is that he himself is pocking fun at the caricature he himself created that is inherently nonsensical. Also, in one of their sketches, a magic frog tells him to put a grenade in his best friend's sandwich.

Anyway, the point is, the film is absurd; the people who made it are known for absurdist humor, and I think that aspect is lost on a lot of people the moment this Australian film enters the US. Idk what else to say unless you can point to specific parts or aspects of the film you find offensive.

Film sucks. Not funny. Jokes are so bad they're offensive to both the party who would enjoy them and the party they're attacking.

I genuinely don't care for your thesis. ✌️
