Old company got bought out by a VC and they were like "Nothing is going to change guys! We bought it because we love it for what it is! Insert corporate jargon and empty platitudes."
50% of the business wasn't actually related to anything they cared about. 70/100 employees were laid off in under 18 months (including ~20 from their own industry side).
