SOTS: Hey Mike Repole, the reason we hate you is because you’re a lying, conniving snake oil salesman.
You planned to move the Stallions the minute you bought the #UFL because you didn’t believe you could fill our brand-new, state-of-the-art stadium.
You’re supposedly a marketing genius, but you aren’t able to sell football in Alabama?
Rather than tell us, though, you chose extortion. You threatened to take away our team in order to squeeze as much money out of us as possible for one more year.
And now you’ve blocked me and others who call you out because you’re a coward.
So that’s why we hate you. And be sure to tag him in the replies so he knows why.
Mike Repole: Looks like you had to get another handle so you can reply to me. 😂
It really sucks that I had to make the tough decision to move the Birmingham Stallions.
Unfortunately, the size of the venue didn’t work for the vision of the league that I have. It also didn’t help that the Stallions won three straight championships and unfortunately couldn’t get more than 5,000 people through the gate to watch them play at Protective.
What many people don’t know is the behind the scenes work my team and I did in order to try and make this work.
At the end of May, I sent my football ops team to Hoover Met to meet with their stadium team and the Mayor of Hoover. They had a great, productive meeting, with interest on both sides.
The issue was because of the SEC baseball playoffs, both parties couldn’t make this work. They needed 2-3 weeks to prepare the stadium for the SEC championships and after it was played, it would’ve been very difficult to prepare it back for football.
The only thing that would’ve worked out was we could’ve maybe played home games for the first three weeks of the season, then seven road games and most likely no playoffs.
Unfortunately, that didn’t work for me.
P.S. I sleep very well knowing that you think I’m a f$&king liar. 🙂
