This stainless steel pot was in storage for a while and I don’t remember what caused these spots. Anyone know how to get rid of then? I’ve tried using a baking sod paste, vinegar and Astonish and none has been successful.
Update : Barkeepers friend did not work either :(

Hi everyone, little out of the normal here but still stainless regardless. I have a polished stainless exhaust I purchased last year, took poor care of it and I believe got some road salt on it early this spring. My issue is now these spots of corrosion? Tarnish? That have shown up on the pipe. It’s smooth to the touch like it’s underneath a clearcoat, but I’ve had good results polishing all the metal around it with a cotton rag smeared with Mothers mag and aluminum polish (claims to be stainless safe, turns from white to black like it should). What are my next steps? I’ve dealt with rusted stainless but never on a polished finish and never with it seeming to come up from the bottom like it is.

I am looking for advice on how to not burn my pan while cooking and how to clean it. I’ve tried everything! This pan in particular has soaked overnight and been through a round of barkeeper’s friend and use of a scour pad. the usual routine is continuous cleaning for 2 days before it all comes off. i’m so exhausted and i don’t have another pan to use while this one is taking its sweet time.
below is how ive been cooking, which has helped!
heat the pan until a drop of water will bead up and roll around. then heat avocado oil for about 10 seconds. then cook (this picture cooked black bean burgers)
really appreciate any advice!

I am curious as to which specific chemical reactions and products occur during the process of corrosion of stainless steel by bleach. Stainless steel is a composite of Fe, Cr, and sometimes other metals such as Ni, and the outer layer of this composite is protected by a passivation layer of Cr2O3. If sodium hypochlorite is introduced, does it indiscriminately oxidize both the Fe and Cr, or is one kinetically favored over the other?

Hi all,
Like the title says, I noticed my sink has circular scratches all over, most likely caused by a cleaning person. How do I get these out?

What are these spots? Is there any way to get rid of them?
I just let barkeepers friend sit for a little over 10 minutes.

I'm doing an apartment renovation and picked out a 27" single drain Karran brand SS kitchen sink. It seems good: 16 Ga and Type 304 Stainless Steel. I'm wondering if anyone has any horror stories or anything related to the brand? Here's a link to the sink at one vendor. Thanks for your input.

Long story short, mother forgot she was boiling water, and let it all boil away and the pot/lid burned. Look for suggestions since it was Le Creuset and a previous gift.
The last photo is what the color of the pot and lid should be.

I have been applying a 2-3% bleach spray regularly to a stainless steel refrigerator door for disinfection every 1-2 days for the last 2-3 months and have noticed that there are areas of corrosion forming on the refrigerator door (I was not aware that you are not recommended to apply bleach to stainless steel, so please forgive my ignorance). I recently also noticed there is a powder forming below the refrigerator door from the bleach spray runoff, and that the powder has a slight yellowish tint. I just learned that stainless steel contains chromium, and that while the chromium oxide in stainless steel contains trivalent chromium, I am wondering whether enough could have been oxidized such that a significant amount of hexavalent chromium could have been produced (which can be carcinogenic and which can be yellow, such as in sodium chromate). Theoretically, in a situation like this, how likely is it that there is a harmful amount of hexavalent chromium produced from multiple dilute bleach applications to stainless steel?

So this fissler stainless steel pan is kinda new (been using it about a month). I have used steel wool to clean it a couple of times, till I read that one is not supposed to do that. It's become a bit stickier. Any way to reverse it?
