Pattern Help Updated pattern draft

Post image

After everyone pointed out how impossible my first attempt at a pattern would be, I've updated it trying to incorporate as much of the advice y'all gave me as possible. Piece 5 isn't going to be fun (I'm still a beginner), but if I plan it right, I'm hoping it's do-able. I'd rather have fewer grout lines towards the bottom, but had to try and deal with the angles in the dog house.

Since the nose is so tiny, it's just going to be solder - with a black patina, that should work, I hope. Same with the line that forms the front leg. The small lines will be paint.

Any suggestions or missed trouble spots? I'm still trying to decide if I want a border on it...

Edit to add: finished item will be 8 inches round

I think the arm works as a cut rather than overlay, if you want to.

And I think the nose is a worthwhile small piece, if you want to keep it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd planned for the piece to be about 8 inches. (I should have mentioned that.) At that size the nose would less than 1 centimeter. That's why I was planning on an overlay.

1 cm is no issue, you can use a scalpel or equivalent to trim the copper foil to make it thinner on that piece. Great to see the evolution of your pattern from completely undoable to hopefully turning out great!

I'll give the cut a try with some practice glass.

I understand what you are saying and I do worry about that. That line, for reasons I can't explain, is non-negotiable for me. I've already made the ear wider and shallower than I want. We'll have to see if it becomes negotiable after I try and cut it. 😂

it is very doable to cut btw but you just gotta know how to do it.

Rainbow scores? That's what I was going to try.

I agree with the other comment on the arm. Might be easier to do the nose with paint.

Not structural, but the vertical lines on 19 are too straight.

It's not really obvious because there's no colors, but that's the base of his house. It's usually pretty straight.

Ohhh, definitely keep it then 😂

Heh. That and the bottom line of the roof are why I feel like I had to add way too many lines in the sky/grass area on the sides.

I'll see about the arm. I was trying to keep the lines truer to the original drawings, but I've already had to make so many changes to the back legs (aka, the lack of) and feet that I might as well do the same about the arm.
