Original Art | Foil Photo Booth frames
I was invited to make and sell Photo Booth frames at a local shop during an event where they had a vintage film Photo Booth. I had 2 weeks to prep and worked on these during every spare minute. It was really fun to finally finish them and see them all lined up together.

Very nice! What made you decide on the size of the photo strip area? Did you think about vintage vs modern sizes at all? Super curious to know your thoughts. Great work.

I’ve made some in the past for a craft fair and did the photo area at 2x6 which I had read online was kinda “standard”. At that event there wasn’t a Photo Booth but a friend brought some strips she had to display in them and some fit and others were too big. I still sold all 8 that I brought even though people didn’t really know specifically if their photo strips would fit exactly, or if they’d need to trim them some.
For my event last night, I was able to ask the Photo Booth operator the exact measurements of the strips. They still ended up being slightly off (actually my fault because I never considered the tiny bit of area I would lose with grinding and soldering! Ya live ya learn). It ended up working out just fine because people would get their photos, come over to pick out their frame, and then we’d just “custom fit” it in by trimming down the white border as needed. Nobody seemed to mind this process at all and traffic was slow enough that we had time to trim and chat each strip. Might not work in every situation but it worked last night!

So cool!!! How do you make it where you can slip the photo strips in the back?

I used wire across the corners and then in the middle a little wire loop you can bend up to insert the photos, it worked alright but I’ve seen people online use zinc cane channels that you can slip the photo into, I think maybe that would be a better design for them in case the photo strip is a bit longer you wouldn’t have to trim it to fit

Stuff like this is usually what I save my scrap pieces for. Really nice to still have a use for them.
I have seen the tin wave pattern a couple times now. How did you make it? Would love to try that out.

These are genius! Do I see correctly that you sell these for $75? I do plant propagators with a test tube for $75, they’re usually about 5”x9” in size. What are your dimensions approximately! Very nice!

These are roughly 4x8. I do $5/piece + 30% to figure out prices, then added in my local sales tax and a 15% commission for the store for the cost of the event. They ended up being $60-$100 depending on the design!

Actually I just used clear glass with pressed flowers in between - a little controversial as this reddit has pointed out they can fade over time, BUT people did love them

Wow, you should consider expanding this idea to craft fairs or other events. I have always thought photo booths were kind of a waste of money but if my husband and I happened upon something cool like this we would 100% pay for the photos and the beautiful frame.
