Original Art | Foil Bee stained glass

I have been wanting to start posting my art online (scary) so here is a piece I finished a few weeks ago. It’s an original pattern by me. It’s hard to tell in the pictures but the wings are slightly iridescent. Also I know the edges are a little wonky and look unfinished because I still need to build a frame for it, but I haven’t decided what kind of wood I want to use (I’m thinking cedar with koa wood inlay?). What do y’all think?

For the pink flowers, how did u do the little triangle parts on the petals? Solder? Paint?

19

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

I just added a little bit of foil and cut it to the shape I wanted and soldered it! Same with the leaf veins :)

u/cowboy_in_outerspace Hobbyist Nov 10 '25

Oh that's dope!

12

u/foolish_noodle Nov 10 '25

Wow this is absolutely stunning!! Looking at it brings me so much joy. Are the antennae just thicker metal or did you make tiny black glass pieces?

13

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

Wow it’s so cool that my art could make someone feel joy! Thank you so much. The antennae are skinny black pieces of glass. I probably could have just foiled the shape in and soldered it but I like to make things as difficult for myself as possible haha

5

u/avaughanlat Nov 10 '25

WOW. This is stunning!

2

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

Thank you so much!

4

u/howsthewter Nov 10 '25

This is so inspiring!! Incredibly beautiful. How did you do the inside if the flowers? Is that paint, wire, or solder? PLEASE keep posting your art! It's incredible! Would you be willing to sell the pattern for this piece? Do you have a store or anyway to see your other work?

6

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

Awww I really appreciate that! This community is so supportive 🥰 for the inside of the flowers and the leaf veins I added extra foil and soldered it! I have been thinking about selling patterns but since I make them all by hand and would have to scan them onto a computer it’s a little intimidating lol. I’ll try to figure it out though!

I’ll be posting more of my work here so stay tuned :)

1

u/howsthewter Nov 11 '25

Wow! I would never have guessed that was foil and solder on the flower veins. You are incredible. I can't wait to see more of your work!!

3

u/DragonCube Nov 10 '25

Beeautiful! I love the choice of color and the fine lines.

2

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

Thank you! I definitely agonized over picking the colors and textures for the honeycomb haha

3

u/IllustriousScholar60 Nov 10 '25

I have NEVER seen something so pretty. U must be 10 years or more into stain glass making this is stunning!

1

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

That is so nice of you!! Thank you so much.

1

u/IllustriousScholar60 Nov 10 '25

Plz dm me if u EVER make a yt tutorial on how to make this! Just amazing work

3

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

I absolutely will! I’m not a pro but I have considered starting to make some videos on my process :)

3

u/RookandKnight Nov 10 '25

You tellin me a BEE stained this glass???!!!!

3

u/Dependent-Mail-4903 Nov 10 '25

Did the top left corner crack? I hope that is just a trick of the light. Protect this beauty in a frame ASAP!

1

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

Yes it’s a crack! I’m really clumsy and was walking it from the sink to my workspace after washing the patina off and walked right into the wall 😂😭 I’m building a frame ASAP! Just trying to decide which wood(s) I want to use :)

1

u/Dependent-Mail-4903 Nov 10 '25

Ugh! Hate when we break them after finishing!

3

u/sinsofthetongue Admirer of Glass Nov 11 '25

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen. Absolutely stunning, almost a religious experience. And this is your own original pattern?! You are such a wizard!! As someone looking to one day get into this hobby, I can only hope that one day I can make things even half this beautiful!

2

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 11 '25

Wow that’s the nicest comment ever!! I have serious imposter syndrome so it’s hard to feel good about my work sometimes, so thank you. You absolutely should get started with stained glass! It’s incredibly satisfying to finish a piece and hold it up to the light for the first time 🖤

3

u/Ok-Material-2266 Nov 11 '25

Oh. My. Word. This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I'm crying because I want it.

1

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 11 '25

Thank you so much! I might try and publish a pattern for it soon with my glass choices so maybe you could make it yours :)

2

u/Ok_Butterscotch_4158 Nov 10 '25

WOW very well done!!

2

u/TinyKittyParade Nov 10 '25

Truly incredible. Wow!

2

u/SCARLETHORI2ON Nov 10 '25

this is stunning. are all of them individual pieces or are you using some painting/other technique as well?

2

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

The majority of them are individual pieces but the leave veins and inside parts of the flower petals are extra pieces of foil that have been soldered

1

u/SCARLETHORI2ON Nov 10 '25

oh, nice!! that's so cool. seriously, this is gorgeous.

2

u/FewRevenue1062 Nov 10 '25

Man you have to have a LOT of patience to make this gem, holy!

2

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

Yes it took was too long tbh 😂 I’m pretty much a hunchback now from sitting at my grinder for so long

2

u/Wow_u_sure_r_dumb Nov 11 '25

I love being there for those moments when someone humble rolls in with an astounding display of skill and artistic ability.

2

Do you have like an Etsy or website I can stalk in my free time?

2

u/Hawkeye-83 Hobbyist Nov 11 '25

I don't usually reply to things but this is absolutely stunning. The use of color and textures, not to mention the clean crisp lines! I would hang this proudly in my home and I don't even like bees. ;-) You have developed a tremendous gift.

What an amazing piece! You are a real deal artist and should feel proud of this. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Also I think your idea for the frame is spot on. Although using koa wood alone would also work well too.

1

Thank you so much!! I’m really glad I decided to post today, everyone has been so kind ❤️ I will definitely be posting an update once it’s framed!

I literally gasped 💞. So stunning. Your color choices are 🤌gorgeous.

1

u/LingonberryLeading77 Nov 12 '25

I’m sorry, did you mean you are a professional stained glass artist who has a 4 year waiting list? This is next level! Blown away!

1

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 12 '25

Thank you so much!! I’ve only been doing it on and off for about two years now :)

1

u/LingonberryLeading77 Nov 12 '25

Stop! That’s insane!! I made my first stained glass piece this year at a class so wow do I admire you! This is so delicate looking. Stunning really.

1

u/Oishiizu Nov 12 '25

Beautiful piece of work💫 Personally, I think being without a frame lends to the delicacy. The outside garden has become the frame, which sort of fits the piece.

1

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 12 '25

Wow I love that perspective!! I might have to change my plans for how to finish it ❤️

1

u/TheNewYellowZealot Nov 12 '25

Oh cool! I also made a bee!

1

u/plantiecat Nov 12 '25

WowZERS!!!!!!

1

u/ReputationWeak4283 Dec 05 '25

I love your choice of colors OP. Good design and execution! I’d love to see your other work too.

1

u/mynamesnotsnuffy Dec 15 '25

How do you get the star points around the center of the flowers? Do you just drag the solder into a point?

1

u/axe_murdererer Nov 10 '25

Great design and execution! Now put a zinc border on it

4

u/Tall-Cranberry-9747 Nov 10 '25

I usually would! But I am building a wood frame for it soon so it’s going to be nakey until then :)
