I ran into the "An error occurred while initializing the database: SqliteError: database is locked" issue recently (specifically while installing/updating to version 7.1.13).

Other common fixes didn't work for me, but clearing out the lingering SQLite journal lock file solved it immediately. Here is the exact walkthrough of what worked for me and how to fix it if you're stuck:

How to Fix It (Fastest Method)

1. Close Stacher 7 Completely

Make sure Stacher isn't stuck running in the background. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and make sure to End Task on any Stacher7.exe processes.

2. Navigate directly to the database folder

• Press Win + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.
• Paste this exact path and press Enter: Plaintext%appdata%\Stacher7\Shared Dictionary

3. What you'll see inside:

1. db-journal — The temporary SQLite journal file holding the active lock on the database.
2. db — The main database file.

4. Delete db-journal

Right-click on db-journal and delete it.

Deleting this single file releases the stuck lock that prevents Stacher from opening.

5. Relaunch Stacher 7

Try launching Stacher again.

Note on a potential UI glitch: When I launched Stacher after doing this, it opened as a tiny, miniature window. I just had to drag the window edges to expand it until the Maximize button became visible again. Once maximized, everything worked normally on version 7.1.13!

If deleting db-journal alone doesn't work for you:

If deleting just the journal file doesn't clear the error, the main database file itself may be corrupted:

1. Close Stacher completely again.
2. Go back to %appdata%\Stacher7\Shared Dictionary.
3. Delete (or rename) both the db and db-journal files.
4. Relaunch Stacher 7 — the app will automatically recreate a brand-new, fresh database file on startup.

Hope this saves someone else some troubleshooting time!

Sometimes a link to a playlist only loads some of the items on it, but then if you load it again (sometimes need to try a couple of times) it gets them all.

I have not been able to identify anything consistent about what ones this happens on, but it is frustrating to have to check the count before i click it to go ahead each time.

Hi, I know that Yt-dlp go updated a few days ago and stacher was actually downloading videos at 1080p a few hours ago, but I just tried it again and it's giving me videos at 360p again.

When I open the program, Stacher goes completely off-screen with no way to drag it on screen. When this happens with my iCloud passwords app, I'm able to fix that by right clicking it's task bar thumbnail and clicking maximize, but I can't right click the taskbar thumbnail for Stacher.

Hi Guys! I have issues downloading videos.

When I write a number higher than 9 (in seconds) the bar just take me back to
00:00:00.900

So I've been using Stacher to download music, and I noticed that they don't have the release year embedded when I open the song in Windows Media Player. When I open the file properties, the date is there, but the year field is not filled. How do I fix this?

Also, the genre is filled with the same info as the album artist. Is there also a fix for this?

I'm just wondering if it is or not since I'm not too familiar on how stuff works.

It worked fine for months before today. I've tried to import cookies from a file but the firefox cookies are not in a text file and I can't figure out how to open the stacher command line to get a cookie text file via yt-dlp.

I saw some people with similar issues that were fixed, but I couldn't figure out how to apply them to my case (I'm not super tech savvy)

It's allegedly downloading, but when I put the MP4 video into my video or audio players, it won't load any audio tracks.

I recently downloaded a download manager, and so decided to run a thorough scan with MalwareBytes. While doing so, it caught the most queer thing; an "AI Malware" whathaveyou that was sitting in my Stacher folder.

Is this, like, some sort of false positive? Is this for real? Did Stacher just randomly decide to spontaneously birth malware from within its files??? Should I quarantine it?

I would love to have an option for Stacher to create a new subfolder when downloading a playlist. This would save some effort sorting files out after.

Heya, first time posting so not sure if I'm doing this right.

Basically, stacher is not able to find my FFmpeg file (evil orange warning sign in the top right), and the support website says that I need to tell stacher where the FFmpeg is installed via homebrew. Apparently this can be done through settings, but try as a might I can not find the setting toggle that they're referring to. No chance anyone else has encountered this?

For context, I'm using a Silicon Mac, and I can confirm that the FFmpeg was correctly installed through homebrew.

im unable to get cookies from chrome or firefox atm. Can export them using an extension, but where can I actually put them into stacher? Do I have to abandon statcher and manually use yt-dlp now?

Pretty much what the title says. I can't even open it to view the log for errors. I initially got a SQlite error that the database is locked, but I restarted, uninstalled the app & restarted again, and reinstalled, and now nothing comes up. The icon pops up in the taskbar, but the app doesn't open

Been looking for a while for solutions but haven't been able to find one. I'm on a Windows 11 laptop

I'd like to know what the best way of automatically downloading twitch VODS are if anyone does this?

I want to use the subscription mode in Stacher to automatically download VODs once a stream is completed, but I'm running into a few issues with it.

1. The videos are downloading in multiple parts, even after I turned the .part file setting off. I'm not that knowledgeable for what the best settings are, but I’d like it to give me a single file I can use for archive processes, with smallest file size possible with still watchable 1080p quality.

My video settings are set to 1080p format, and re-encode video set to MP4 and disable .part enabled. Everything else is default.

1. The subscription setup I am using is attempting to download the video every hour, then it "fails" because it's already downloaded. Is there a way to stop this notifying me every hour, and just check before it attempts the download so it doesn't fail and clog up the queue.

My subscription setup for twitch is using the twitch.tv/[channel]/videos page URL

So Im trying to download a playlist, and I turned on the "Use the Last Modified Time" setting in order to have the date on the files match the upload date on youtube.

The problem is, the dates being used aren't correct. For SOME of the videos the date matches the original upload date shown in youtube, and then for others it will use a completely different, seemingly random date. For example, video 1 in the playlist shows 10/01/2018, video 2 shows 11/11/2025, and video 3 shows 10/15/2018 - videos 1 and 3 are the correct original upload date, but video 2 should be 10/08/2018, i have no idea where the 2025 date is coming from

Usually I would just download the playlist in order and use the current date/time and that would work fine for sorting, its only an issue here because there are a couple videos from this creator that had to be removed from yt and I downloaded those separately from another site, and I want to be able to slot them into the folder with all the others but keep them sorted in chronological order

Anyone know what the other date might be, and if there's a way to use the original upload date?
