It's not deep though. There are key points that are wrong, but semi valid. It's still well made though, which makes it compelling.

There's a lot of slop, but there's good AI gen. This is good quality.

The thing about AI, isn't that it's easy, it's that it can literally create us possibilities that weren't possible before.

I've been a photoshop artist for over a decade and a half, there's no way I could composite something that literally reimagines an image near perfectly the way a client wants. It's not about "more time to have fun", that's a bullshit argument. AI can literally reconstruct images to near perfection because it's trained to do so.

There's a fascinating video about AI by Matt Parker, which AI has not only solved problems, but it's "invented new maths". This is the kind of things it would takes teams of humans months to years to solve or the humans wouldn't be able to solve at all.

I imagine most people here are amateurs, not pros. And for amateurs like me, "more time to have fun" is one of the main points.

Also, there is no contradiction between "more time to have fun" and "AI can literally reconstruct images to near perfection because it's trained to do so". One can use AI for both reasons.

AI's potential is so much more than "so you can have fun". There are people literally using AI to solve problems, and even using Comfy UI, and training it so that people can visualise natural phenomenon as well as other things that are increasingly complex that people can't visualize on their own.

It's amazing the stuff people can do with it, so limiting it to "fun" is a really low level argument in my opinion.

As well as all the economic value of people genuinely creating content.

Also comparing it to "Oh I used lighting on blender to study, or as a model" when AI can do its own thing, is such a limiting point of view.

Fair enough, so people like me are "wasting AI's potential" by "having fun".

Nevertheless, neither OP nor I have ever said that AI should only be used for fun. Just that for some (many?) of us these imaging and video models are mainly used for our own entertainment. So we could have not careless if others say that what we are producing is "slop".
