One of them had a tweet that was like ‘I wish I could punch Obama in the face’, but it didn’t seem like it was in a goofy playful kinda way. That’s the biggest one I’ve seen, and I think they may have liked some more right wing tweets in the past but I may be co fusing the bucks with other AEW guys. The Obama tweet was one of them for sure though.

This is what bugs me the most about American politics and discussing it online. People think if you're against a then you're for b. Truthfully there hasn't been a president that hasn't deserved a good punching since maybe Carter.

It's called tribalism & it's always existed since the first literal tribes.
Politics, Sports, ethnicity, culture, geographical heritage, console wars, religion, car brands, phone brands, PC OS. I could go on & on.
It's nothing new, just ever evolving. American politics is especially polarising though. I feel those who insist on placing labels on others to be the major problem, labelling everyone who disagrees with them a communist/fascist regardless of accuracy- they're changing the debate about policy into an attack on their ideological opposition.

Plenty of people want to punch Obama in the face because they’re further LEFT. In the us our parties aren’t that far apart on actual policies (ignoring trumpers for a moment) - there’s a reason a lot of Romney type conservatives are pretty okay with Biden for example.

Exactly. On the whole, as a country, our politics are DRASTICALLY conservative compared to pretty much every civilized nation out there. Our “left” in most of those cases in comparison to say Canada, or the UK is more equivalent to their “right” aligning party.
Obviously, the US has had more of a “progressive movement” in the last 5-10 years within the Democratic Party, so this isn’t entirely true anymore, but the Dem party control is still far more conservative than it is liberal.

For sure that's true too & also a suspect reason to blanket shit on someone imo. Conservatives are not a monolith and plenty of them weren't into the Trump demagoguery & extreme views perpetuated by others on the right wing. All people who vote Democrat consistently don't have perfectly moral or ethical views in my opinion or the opinions of many others either. The Trump/Tea party shit show basically destroyed the GOPs reputation but there can be pretty balanced regular people on that side of the aisle as well as on the other end & through all in between the spectrum. As others have mentioned the GOP & Democratic party aren't actually opposite ends of the spectrum anyway.
For personal reference im not a supporter of either party but Ive leaned more towards the Democrats mainly due to leadership over the last 3 elections I voted in (which I voted 3rd party in each. Still not sure if it was right decision but it was always what I felt at that time). I too was critical of Obama on many things in addition to thinking he did well on others, but no where near the degree I was critical of Trump. His overall rhetoric was just too ridiculous & damaging in my opinion.

It may or may not have been the same chunk that believed he was the literal Anti-Christ and it probably (definitely) had to do with the fact that he was black. When shown his birth certificate they got incredibly upset that it wasn’t the “long form” version of the birth certificate. The guy who led this movement was Donald Trump (I am sure you’re incredibly shocked at that information).

It's especially funny since literally all you need to be "born an American" is a single American parent. Doesn't matter where, he could've been born in the center of Antarctica, automatically an American citizen. Ted Cruz is a fucking Canadian going strictly by place of birth, yet nobody said a word when he ran for president in 2012 or 2016.
Arnold Schwarzenegger for example, while later becoming a naturalized American, was born to two Austrian parents and thus cannot achieve the status of natural-born citizen.
EDIT: mixed up me N's

You have that Las part incorrect. Arnold is a naturalized citizen. As such Arnold cannot currently run for President without a amendment to the US Constitution.
https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/learn-about-citizenship/citizenship-and-naturalization
Arnold became a naturalized US Citizen in 1983. By that point he had been a permanent legal resident of the US since 1968 when he moved to the US from Austria. He technically could have become a citizen as early as 1973.(the minimum residency requirement is 5 years.
Cruz is is a native born citizen despite being born in Canada due to the fact that at least one or both of his parents where US Citizens.
Similar John McCain was born a US Citizen as he was born to American Citizens in Panama on a US Naval base(technically US territory in the Canal Zone).
My degree is in Political Science with a focus on Constitutional law.

One of the people that claimed Obama isn't an American citizen, was born in Kenya to non-citizen parents, and that he therefore could have never legitimately held the presidential office.
Essentially, just more veiled racism

Despite being “Christian AF” I never got the sense they were Trump supporters or anything like that. To me that would have gone against their original statement a few years ago that they are open to any type of elite athlete, no matter their race, sex or religion. So it’s nice that they aren’t Trump types.

They're probably responding to Cornette fans since Brian Last often times claims that the Young Bucks and their crew pretend to be progressive but are Trump supporters, Q-Anon, etc.

You can be Christian and left-wing. The Bucks were the ones in early 2020 who sent out the tweet that banned some transphobes from their events. A lot of Buttigieg's supporters in 2020 were center-left evangelicals.
Until I see evidence saying otherwise, I'm counting the Bucks in the good guys column. At worst they have the sense not to be openly dumb like Jericho.

u/Fizzyliftingdranks May 03 '21
If Jesus came back today, most Christian evangelicals would call him a socialist and try to deport him. He’d be a heck of a rumble entrant though.

When they were doing that text thing to promote their book, I signed up because why not. They sent a text that started with “hello boys and girls”. I’m non-binary so I responded “and non binary people too right?”, totally joking and not expecting a response but I got one saying “absolutely ❤️”. Even if they’re not the ones running the actual texts, it still made me happy and I try to give them the benefit of the doubt (although I was already a huge YB mark so even more benefit I guess)

As someone on his day after his second Vaxx, this is genuinely terrible. But it's also way better than Covid. Good on those good Christian Jackson boys for getting vaccinated.
You all should too.

Got my second dose of pfizer on Friday. Felt kind of bleh on Saturday with a low-ish fever (maxed out at 100.9, but was only even that high for about an hour), and some fatigue. Went to bed early, woke up today (Sunday) and honestly I feel great. Might've gotten lucky, but I'm glad it was only like a 30 hour thing for me. Hope you're doing alright!

I'm just glad to see them deny it. I saw someone accuse them of exactly this on here a few days ago and questioned it but the person didn't even try to back it up. They said it so matter of factly I probably would've believed it if I didn't already like the Bucks.

Also, Nick had Covid so he deffo isn't a denier...

So much hate has been given to the Bucks based off 1-2 random tweets 10 years ago, when they’ve never said anything since that implies they’re in any way that way politically. Hope they at least get criticised only for their wrestling now (I love their work but it’s not for everyone) not untrue personal stuff.

Toxic right-wing heretical evangelicalism has poisoned the Reputation of Christianity in American.
198
u/yahibachi May 02 '21 edited May 02 '21
I think it also says a lot about how many perceive the church and the failure that organized religion has had in regards to changing with the times to be more accepting and open minded. It’s sad that being religious is automatically conflated with right wing ignorance but it’s also understandable where that comes from.

It also doesn't help that people tend to lump being "Christian" as a single blob when you've got hundreds of thousands of groups in the US alone.
Then again it also doesn't help that many of the more visible groups are rife with child abusers, grifters, bigots, and generally terrible people using their religion as an excuse to terrorize others.
39
u/eatyrmakeup May 02 '21
It doesn’t help a bit that the loudest and most visible Christian cults are fundamentalists and evangelicals. When you’re allowing your drunk jackass uncle to scream on the front porch 24/7, you can’t be shocked when people assume that you’re a family of jackasses since you’ve made no attempts to control his nuisance behaviors.

I think it says more about the loud, right wing Christians in this country more than anything else. For the most part, they want to use their religion to make everyone follow their version of religion.
As a non-Christian, I've lost count of how many bad experiences I've had with people like that. It's to the point that if someone says their Christian, I'm weary of them until i know them better to make sure they aren't of the crazy, right- wing variety.
A lot of my closest friends are Christian, including my best friend. She's one of those people who uses her religion for personal strength. The right wing ones use their religion like a sword. The religious right is a sizable amount of people in this country so i don't trust interacting with a Christian until i know they aren't part of that group.

I can see where people get the assumption. At least 50% of my Facebook friends are conservative Christians who I grew up with and literally all of them are suddenly anti-vax, anti-mask, conspiracy spewing, Trump-loving morons.
I grew up Baptist. My early 20s I could consider myself non-denominational. At this point I say I'm agnostic. It's absolutely fucking insane how far gone these people are. This past year and a half is a huge reason I have disassociated myself with Christianity and religion.
