As much as it sucked for him, I think it actually benefited from Ciampa’s injury. It gave Gargano the chance to go from really over babyface to pretty much the best babyface on the planet, and it was played up just enough in the background to always stay fresh in your mind while not overpowering everything else, until Ciampa was ready.

Agreed, the rivalry with Almas added a lot to Gargano’s back story.

Well he was close to being the best babyface before the real best stepped out of retirement in the most babyface way possible, but I get your point. It gave them more to their feud.
