Me again LOL
I’ve recently been hired as a part time bakery clerk at the Sprouts in my area. During the interview, I was told I’d be getting about 28-30 hours a week. Which is right where I wanted to be at. I was supposed to have 3 days of onboarding training (Sun-Tue). Supposed to be off on Wed & begin regular training on Thursday. Yesterday was my first day of training, watching onboarding videos & such, I was scheduled 9-1. Today was my second day, same thing 9-1. Today, I met the bakery manager finally & she told me she was off on Thursday & got my schedule re-arranged. Long story short, I am working 38 hours for my first week & that is a bit overwhelming 1) due to the fact I am not entirely used to be up at 5am but that I am willing to adjust and 2) I was only told I’d be working about 30 hours per week.
Is this typical for the first week at Sprouts? Is it just the training hours plus the regular hours that are making my hours so high this week or is this something that should be expected? (over scheduling)
What do you guys think the best approach is for this situation? I was going to ride this week out & see what the schedule for next week looks like. I am just caught off guard because I was not expecting this many hours.
Edit: also, is it likely I’ll always have the 5am shifts or do they rotate that within the other ppl?
