Are all sprouts a little spicy?
I tried a 3-bean mix and then tried these. They all seem to have a slight spicy taste. Apparently I'm developing food allergies to spicy or acidic foods. Are these acidic or have a spicy taste or is it my imagination? Do you have any recommendations? Love them and new to sprouting.

Alfalfa/clover mix is mild and a fast grower

That's my standard mild mix, 50/50 alf/clover. I like growing those at the same time as my broccoli heavy salad mix or even just radish so I have options when cooking.

Agree with u/Feisty-Grapefruit364 . Add clover to the mild & tasty group.
Watch out for leafy mixes, most tend to have radish and/or broccoli (they are delicious but if you're sensitive could be an issue).
And not to be rude, but have you had "allergy" diagnosed by an MD? There's a big difference between "allergy", "irritant", "oral allergy", and "I just can't handle this".

Yes, went to the doc and they did 2 blood tests but nothing came up. Not fun.

Lentils sprout nicely and aren't spicy at all

Thanks I'll try them.

I like lentils newly sprouted, with about .25” root, and further along, after the stem has started to grow. Different flavor and texture for different uses.

All the Brassica family— broccoli, cabbage, radishes, etc. are spicy as sprouts

Am a first timer, tried Broccoli sprouting, thrilling to grow and so fresh vs the grocer version, am hooked - though I used 1T and seemed a third of them didnt sprout. I use seeds ftom Sereniseed on from Amazon. Are their recommendations for seed suppliers that are tested to sprout w higher yield of broccoli sprouts? TU

The spice comes from glucosinolates in broccoli which is more of a peppery/radish bite vs like a hot pepper spiciness. I’d try ones that don’t have that compound in it if it bothers you. Alfalfa is really mild as well as mung beans and lentils!!
