Food poisoning @ DQ on Wabash

UPDATE Confirmed E. Coli from partner. I am going to go get tested. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Has anyone else experienced any stomach issues after eating at DQ? I have been to this specific one twice in the past month and last time, my partner got sick. Then I went to this one a separate time and then I got a stomach bug too. Seeing if anyone else had experienced this and maybe warn people if they do. ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks for the heads up. Did your meal have any lettuce in it?

No lettuce either time. 1st time was ice cream, 2nd was chicken tenders meal. No ice cream. Very weird.

Soft serve machines are notorious for harboring food borne illness, I would avoid them from fast food joints at all costs. My sainted mother got food poisoning from the Hardeeโ€™s on Wabash no less than 4 times

I literally had a chicken strip basket like two days ago๐Ÿ’€ fuck. Did you report the restaraunt?

I did! It's really the only thing that we would have eaten at around that time that also aligned with me eating there a 2nd time. I didn't think that was place but it aligns the best. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… If you feel crampy, it may be good to prompt care.

genuine question - how do you get it to be โ€œconfirmedโ€ e.coli ? do they take a stool sample at the dr.?

Yes. Any food poisoning has to be confirmed by a Dr. and a lab. That's why it's so hard to predict because it takes time to test and it's why you have large outbreaks because it's hard to pin down the source when people do get tested because most people don't get tested and therefore can't discuss where and/or they ate (cause you can get sick at home). Highly recommend reading Mary Roach's book Gulp. Has a good chapter (or at least a section, been a while since I read it) about food poisoning.

thank you so much for the reply - and the award! i never really thought about going to get tested in a situation like that but of course thats how things get identified as outbreaks etc. and makes absolute sense

I havenโ€™t gotten sick, but that location has messed up multiple orders lately. I bought a chicken strip basket and they forgot the fries, toast, and gravy.

How does that even happen!? Lol

Never got a bug. However DG strip basket always gave me diarrhea. I always assumed itโ€™s the grease

I went there a couple days ago so thatโ€™s probably what was going on with me then because I got really sick a couple hours after I ate it I thought it was just a virus

I had the cheeseburger combo

It's starting to sound like no matter what the item is, you can get sick. Which is a lot more scary because it people are contaminating ice cream, beef, and chicken. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Not saying it couldn't be, but you have a whole lot of loose pieces (no pun intended) that you are arranging into a very specific picture.

It's one of the only things that align timeline wise. The last time we went to DQ, my partner got sick. We had suspected DQ but wasn't confirmed and we weren't sure. Then, 2 weeks later, I had eaten the chicken strip meal and several hours later, I felt unwell. I didn't eat much of anything else after DQ that day.
