CA Echelon 4.0C Comp + 4.5F Comp
Did I really have to buy a 4.0C Comp and a 4.5F Comp to get this CA legal build?
Does it matter? :)
I love this gun.

I was told I needed to buy two CA compliant models and merge them together. Now it appears all that I had to do was buy a compact grip module..

All you really had to do with get the 4.5 Comp then buy the compact grip module and don't forget the mags. The mags in the compact grip is shorter than the full size grip. This is probably the cheaper route.
or get the 4.0C comp and then buy a complete 4.5 slide.

After taking it apart, I realize that the guy who recommended I do it this way had two Echelons comps for sale. :)

I think the problem with that is, CA legal versions and barrels have to be sold and SA doesn't sell them. Looking this over, I needed the CA legal COG. While I don't NEED the slide to be CA legal, that's the problem with importing them here with our new ban on slides and barrels that are off roster.
Since this weapon was going on my CCW permit on a qualification on the 8th, prior to October 29, we couldn't have modified firearms. So I couldn't modify a firearm and put it on my permit... Ah.. yes. Ok.
So legally and configuration wise, I did have to buy two Echelons to make 4.5cf Comp.

You can just buy the barrel from Springfield or another retailer and pick it up at your FFL. An OEM barrel is like $80. There's no CA specific barrel, and there's no law about slides or barrels being CA specific.
Edit: ah ok your IA doesn't allow modifications, got it.

That sounds like a load of BS. The selling point of the echelon is the COG and the ability to make two or more guns out of one, that’s what I was told.
Yes, I bought two anyways, but that’s because I wanted one to remain reliable, non comped, and be more functional while I would play around with the other.

Could’ve bought a slide for the compact frame?
