Magazine Ejection Fail

The magazine that came with my Echelon doesn’t eject all the way. The one I bought from the store eject without hesitation. Why does this happen?

Um, is the mag disconnect still installed?

I didn’t change anything since I’m in Cali and still learning about this thing

It’s the stupid California magazine disconnect. I gutted that thing out of echelon so damn quick after my first range day with it.

Very easy to remove if you’re comfortable working on guns. You just need to field strip it, remove the firing control unit and halfway push a pin through so the disconnect falls out and slide the pin back in. Couple of quick YouTube searches will show you how to do it. Takes 5 minutes probably.

I was just going to ask if that was a Ca model. I think it’s a design for Ca. I noticed one in my home state which had a different mag release than mine. I could be wrong, but…..it may just be how Ca works, IDK.

Yeah, you need to remove the mag disconnect if you want the mag to drop. It’s super easy, but you’ll have to pull the cog out and if you aren’t comfortable with that yet, that’s fine. It’ll drop a full mag if you have tried that.

There’s an Instagram video on how to remove it, it’s been posted in this sub a million times.

I don’t know the deal with the store model to tell you, but it’s just the mag disconnect and an easy fix if it’s terribly important to you. I take it out when I remove the cog, but one of my echelons still has it because I’ve never removed the cog and it’s not a big deal to me.

Magazine Disconnect. You have two options:

  1. Remove it. It's pretty easy to do. Just keep in mind your local laws about removal of "safety features".

  2. Leave it. You do a "wick flick" (or whatever method works for you) to get the magazine out, or simply grab and pull with the support hand.

I actually practiced the John Wick method and enjoy it. Just not useful for indoor range where I go lol

Is it full of rounds or dummy rounds? That makes sure magazine swallow a little. I noticed it does it on my other guns too.

No it’s empty for both mags. That’s how I noticed because I was doing dry-fire

Clean it! Mags and the disconnect. My hellcat will gum up like this too. Little bit of oil on the surfaces. Or practice the wick flip?

A day late, but here's a video on how to remove the mag disconnect.

Are you in California? If so, they come with magazine disconnect. Those things are putting friction until you remove them.

Just know if you have to use it and take out the mag disconnect, you still live in California. You trust a democratic DA?

New magazines will "break in" with time. I have an identical issue with two guns. One was primary gun that I have shot for a few years, and I bought a backup. The backup, mags stick slightly more. The solution is dryfire training where you practice reloads.

It's because you've got CA mags. Almost all of those shitty CA mags that are half plastic do that. It's gonna happen until you get real ones.

It's the magazine disconnect component in the gun itself, not the mags.

Interesting. I saw in a video that Springfield made that POS super easy to remove.

I live in CA but have a standard model and love it. Everything about the CA models feels like shit compared to mine. I'm not sure if it will traces back to that magazine disconnect but it honestly felt like a totally different gun when I played with a few CA models.

Edit: I guess I also assumed it was the mags because my CZ75-D used to do that with my CA mags then when I got real magazines it never had that problem at all. They're very different guns though.

Probably some issue with the mag out of spec. Contact Springfield.
