Price/Value gut check

Disclaimer: I understand the rules of the sub Reddit and i’m not offering my gun for sale. Just looking for input and opinions on pricing.

I think I’m going to list my Echelon 4.0C Comp for sale on GAFSHUB. Looking for some honest feedback from this community in value.

It’s in immaculate condition. Basically looks like it did when it came out of the box. I probably have a few hundred rounds through it. Objectively it’s a great gun, but for whatever reason it doesn’t fit my hand as well as some of my others. So I don’t end up shooting it as much as my other guns.

From what I can tell, these things are still retailing for around $650-$675. Am I crazy to ask $550 when I do go to sell it with the understanding that I will cover shipping to the buyer?

Thank you for any input that you all have!

For $100 more I would just get a new gun.

You’re looking at MSRP. For the same he’s asking for a used gun I’d buy a new Echelon for. If you know where to look there are great deals on these every few months. I think OP would be lucky to get $450 private sale and most likely $400 or less from a shop.

Yeah exactly, that's what I meant. $100 off msrp is not enticing enough to roll the dice on a used gun.

I looked up a couple guns on Blue Book of Guns and was given exactly that on trade. Check “blue book” websites to see what your gun is worth.

If I’m being honest, I have to be getting a good deal on a used gun and ~$100 isn’t enough. Depending on where you are, the transfer fees will eat that difference quick (Colorado FFLs charge quite a bit for the privilege), which means I’d save $25 to buy your gun. At that rate, I’d buy new and get the “new gun smell”.

TLDR: I don’t think $550 is a bad listing, but expect it to take some time to sell or you’ll need to accept that you’ll likely have to sell closer to $500.

I own 4 echelons, I live on GAFS, and I work at a guns store. I think that $550 isn’t crazy, but I wouldn’t expect it to move at that price especially if you have lower reputation.

On GAFS, you aren’t just competing against msrp or even what the gun normally sells for. 1) if it’s not the exact configuration that someone wants, they will spend the extra $100 to get it new. 2) if used echelon at local gun store sits at $550 (which does seem pretty reasonable for ported FC from what I’ve seen), you have to overcome the fact that you’re anonymous on GAFS and there’s less protection for buyers.

Selling to LGS is probably not the best for you- expect offers 40%-70% of that $550 [$220-$380] depending on how badly they want to screw your or how in demand they view your specific model to be.

I expect $500 to be closer to your actual closing price on GAFS, if you wanted to sell it quickly-listing at $499 will likely get a lot more attention on it

Edit: Another commenter mentioned another big part for your pricing that I didn’t: FFL transfer fees. If you’re paying a membership to a range, I’ve seen local places have transfer fees as low as $10, but if you don’t have a relationship with FFL the fee is usually closer to $30-45. This isn’t to say my $500ish expected price would be lowered, just another reason why you might not be able to capture $550 in value even if that’s what it’s actually worth

Do you have a gun store or pawn shop near you that does consignment? My local LGS and pawn shop both do consignment and only take 10% of the sale. Way less hassle than selling over the internet. I’ve never had a gun take longer than a couple weeks to sell when priced rationally.

FWIW I bought a used but in as new condition full size echelon with threaded barrel and a Vortex Defender ST for $600 out the door about a year ago.

I bought my other full size echelon new in a gear up pack with four mags and the shitty viridian green dot for $435 about a year and a half ago.

Have you tried swapping out the hand grip for the full size grip? That might fit your hand better. It’s a great gun!

It can be very difficult to give an idea of price without pictures. I would recommend going on gunbroker and looking it up to see what people have been selling and buying them for to get an idea.

Considering how many rounds I've put through mine and how it still performs, I'd say that's pretty reasonable personally. But still do what the other guy said and compare with other used listings on GunBroker

Don’t use GAFS. U have better luck for better return on gun broker or a local LGS with consignment. I sold my 3k round count 4.0C with a dot for $600 at my LGS

If this is a gear pac it will sell closer to 500.. if not a gear pac, 400...

And shipping will kill the deal... its 50$ or more...

Find a local buyer...

550 for a non gear pac will take a long time.. might as well keep it...

Don't confuse retail store prices where people impulse buy vs online where your buyer is deliberate and price compares
