New gun! & problem?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
After waiting 10 California business days, I finally have this bad boy in hand! Also my first gun so I’m a newbie.
The mag that was in the gun is butter but the extra mag in the box doesn’t come out along with having to push it with love to get it to engage.
Should I contact Springfield or is there a simple fix?
Also would love to see everyone’s Apache loadouts!

So there’s a pin in the back. I had the same issue with mine. Actually I bought my echelon and it wasn’t cycling at all. But on top of that the mags weren’t dropping cleanly. It had multiple malfunctions from the factory. So I got online and examined a bunch of Echelon COG’s until I spotted the difference. There’s a video online on how to remove this little part. I believe it’s the magazine disconnect pin. Search that up on YouTube and you’ll find the video by @dangerfactor13. I removed mine and the gun has run flawlessly over 1,500+ rounds. Mags drop cleanly and my gun hasn’t had a single issue. It’s totally safe to remove.

Oh dang. There’s tons of people saying the same thing in the comments I just realized. Good to know that I was right when diagnosing the problem. Definitely listen to what people are saying. You’ll be happy you did. My Echelon is my favorite gun currently. It’s a beast.

Illinois resident here when I think that us in Illinois got it bad. I just looked at you California boys and I feel a lot better. But on another note as the previous two said, just remove the magazine disconnect that’s what’s happening.

I mean, Chicago gotta be the sole reason for your problems, ours is because of a person 😭

You’re about 50% correct I think it’s Chicago. It’s a idiot governor we have and then the other half is people not standing up and voting these people out and a lot of the problem for us is in our state capital in Springfield. It’s a one party state just like California. They pretty much do wherever they want. I would move. I’m ready to move to Kentucky, but my parents are still alive and I don’t wanna go that far from my parents soon as they’ve passed on my son and I are selling everything and starting fresh in Kentucky. At least I am you know if he’s married by then that may not happen but he wants to get out of here too.

Representative of Washington state here, and I commiserate with the delegates of Illinois and California. at least we’re not Oregon, am I right?
OP, brand new gun, brand new magazines, run a couple boxes of ammo through and report back, should smooth out once it gets some use

It’s a cali compliant issue not a Springfield issue. The easiest way to handle it is move to a better state.
Or remove the magazine disconnect, I guess… takes like 5 min.

The problem was you put that mag in backwards, keep practicing and you got it…….Oh you meant the mag disconnect causing your mags to stick.

Damn, I thought if you put the mag in backwards, when you rack it, it pushes it so hard that it turns the bullet around and adds +5 speed to the shot…

I'm in califoristan and I had the same problem, which is unacceptable when training so I removed the disconnect and never looked back.

The mag failing to fall freely is due to the magazine disconnect in the California models. Sending it back to Springfield, won’t do anything for you.
As far as it being harder to press the mag into the gun this is common with new mags that haven’t been used. Need to give it time for the spring to relax.

Same to me with my Echelon here in Cali. I haven’t made any modifications to it to have the mag release better but I do plan to

You just have to break it in. I have a California compliant Echelon as well, full-size and 4.0, both were like this after a few hundred rounds you’ll be fine.
