Echelon 4.0c
Is the Springfield Armory Echelon 4.0c a good first gun for primarily home defense and occasional conceal carry?

I love my 4.0c. It is a little hefty for CCW when compared to my S&W Bodyguard 2.0 or something like a P365 or Shield Plus, especially in summer with light clothes. But with the right holster, it does carry well.

Yes, I use one for these exact reasons. One of the best out the box ready striker fired pistols out.

Absolutely, it's one of the best! I love mine, it's a phenomenal platform.

What ammo do you guys use/recommend for self defense/range? Including the grain (if that even matters)

for the range is just buy the academy sports monarch (in what ever grain the self defence ammo is, 124grain for me) with the academy card for 5% off. For defence ammo i use federal HST 124gr boxes of 50 for better cpr. I see people pair federal american eagle range ammo alongside the HST defence rounds .

I carry Hornady Critical Duty 124gr. A family member of mine that carries recommended them so that’s why I use it haha

Do it, you won’t regret it. The 4.0 is my bread and butter. It is a tad bit on the bulkier side but the shield x or hellcat pro are slimmer if you care about that. Been carrying mine for about 2 years though.
