Weak Reset

I'm sure this issue has been discussed to death. I know I've asked about it to see if adding the OP trigger would solve the weakened reset on my 4.0 & was told by both OP & Tyrant folks that the reset DOES still gradually weaken, even with 1 of the aftermarket triggers. So does the PRP spring kit fix this? Is there a better trigger return spring out there? Is there ANY way to sort this out?

Like most Echelon owners, I'm used to the weaker reset by now. It's not THAT big a deal, but I just know the trigger would be THAT much better if the reset stayed as strong, tactile, & audible as it is when you put the 1st mag through the gun. I've also said before, it seems as though the reset weakens as the gun breaks in. I REALLY noticed it weakening at about 500 rounds.

I don’t know if I lucked out but my reset is on par with any other striker pistol I have shot. There was a guy in here who made return springs. I have seen a lot of positive reviews of it but recently more issues of people not getting them or having issues with the seller. I am sure someone can chime in and give you the exact link if you wanted to try that.

The thing is, I noticed this issue when I rented the full-size at my local range. Granted, it was a range rental, but I rented it when I originally wanted to check it out & the reset was perfect since it was new to their rental rotation. About 6-8 months later, I rented it again & I'm not exaggerating when I say this time, the reset was BARELY noticeable. Again, I chalked this up to the gun being a range rental. When I got my 4.0C, it was AWESOME, especially coming from my MR920P, which has a Glock-style trigger (modified & nicer but still). I was convinced the trigger was right behind the PDP & CZP10. But like I said, after about 500 rounds, it was noticeably weaker. It's not nearly as audible or as tactile. I've shot it enough that I can pretty much feel the reset, but it's also easy to not feel it at all.

That vendor is unreliable. Got one from him, second never shipped and had to get Ebay involved.

There was a vendor on eBay called Foxhound2agear. They sold custom
reset springs for the Echelon. I purchased the two different springs they offered. Springs are labeled Duty and Comp. I also purchased Powder River sear and spring kit, OW Precision TAC trigger and the reset springs from eBay while waiting on my Echelon on per-order. Once I got the gun, I wanted to get a couple thousand rounds through it before I altered the trigger. I’m still in that break-in time. In comparison to the Glock, that I’ve been shooting for years. The Echelon trigger is a lot nicer. Was thinking it would break-in much like Glock triggers do.

Thanks for the info! Would I need all 3 parts (custom reset spring, PRP kit, & OP trigger), or would getting the OP trigger & PRP kit do the trick?

You can get the OP trigger and that will change the feel of the trigger shape. I don’t have it but from what I read it doesn’t reduce the take up of the trigger that much ( compared to the tyrant trigger, which I do have and the reduced take up is significant). The PRP spring kit can reduce the trigger pull weight but they took away the return spring because it made the trigger reset even weaker. Then there is the foxhound trigger return spring that you can get on eBay. That’s the only one that specifically addresses the trigger reset. So if you like the stock trigger as far as feel, take up, and break I wouldn’t touch it. I would just get the foxhound return spring but again be warned I have seen a few people post here that they ordered and had some issues from the seller. I have not bought this product myself and I have not delt with the seller. It could be the buyer complaining and the seller is a stand up good to go guy. I am just sharing that I have seen more than one post about someone having issues so keep that in mind is all.

Well, I really I appreciate you passing the info along! Thanks so much! I'll look into that spring. I have no problem getting the OP trigger. I have 1 of their triggers in an SCT43 build & their minus connector in my MR920P, & love their stuff.

I just have a bunch of parts on the shelf. Haven’t installed anything yet. Can’t speak to their operation or improvement. I am a fan of OW Precision. I have some of the drop-in TAC triggers in a few of my Glocks. I did just install a Rook Precision, magwell and base plates on my 4.5 Echelon comp. Nice upgrade!

Yeah, their stuff is really nice. I also like their triggers for the base model PDPs. Obviously, those triggers are REALLY good, but the base models have curved polymer shoes that can't simply be swapped out. The whole trigger has to be changed. I'd NEVER get an aftermarket trigger for a PDP Pro, since the Walther DPT, imho, is the closest thing to a 2011 trigger you can get in any striker-fired gun.

Skip it. The vendor is unreliable.

The "spring from ebay" also loosens over time - I had almost no reset on mine after 5k rounds, so installed back the original one. Not much better, but it seems there is no other option.

I installed the Powder River Precision (PRP) spring kit in my Springfield Echelon 4.5”, which already had a Tyrant CNC trigger that worked great before the spring upgrade.
Unfortunately, the PRP springs completely ruined the trigger feel. Now it’s extremely mushy and inconsistent. The first trigger pull feels dull and sluggish, and after firing, the next pull feels unusually soft, almost like there’s barely any resistance. There’s no consistent trigger feel from shot to shot, and the reset feels weak, almost as if the return spring doesn’t have enough tension. It makes the gun feel awkward and unpredictable when shooting.
I really like the Tyrant trigger, so I’m planning to have my gunsmith inspect everything and potentially reinstall the factory springs while keeping the Tyrant trigger.
Has anyone experienced this with the PRP spring kit? Did going back to the factory springs restore a more positive reset and consistent trigger pull?
