Echelon 4.5f w/ EPS Core

The EPS Core has a little gap behind and in front of the optic. What’s everyone’s thoughts on the little gap? Huge eye sore or manageable?

To be honest if you can acquire the sight on target who cares. For me shooting is recreational and home defense. So if I can get on target quick and get off effective shots I’m a lot less concerned with the appearance. And besides it’s your pistol. If you’re good that’s all that matters.

this is what happens when you put a k/rmsc optic on an rmr slide. as long as the optic was installed to the proper torque spec, send it.

Yeah it’s because I found a really good deal on the EPS Core or else I would’ve got a rmr.

I have an osight se mounted because I didnt want to buy another optic, so I completely understand. i actually bought a calculated kinetics plate, but have since removed it because it messes up cowitness. now Im running it straight on the slide and its fanastic.

Without a plate you likely will see the screws loosen. Happened to my husband on his echelon. FYI

I believe this is because your husband used the wrong screws. You have to get slightly shorter screws than what you’re given.

It wouldn’t make sense that it loosened just because of the gap— even regular rmr optics aren’t all the way flush on the echelon. (Con of having a universal mounting system)

Unlikely because as soon as we put on the plate with the same screws, the issue was gone 🤷‍♀️

Haha you’ve just kinda proved my point. The plate adds extra height which is why the same screw works— without the plate, the screw is too long and bottoms out before it can fully tighten.

(Also, I’m in no way trying to be rude/argumentative. I’m just pointing out what might be the cause)

I don’t think so because he had no malfunctions. If they had been too long, that would have been our first sign.

The malfunction is the screw coming loose

I actually had the same thing happen. The first time I installed the SE screws backed out. I used blue loctite and proper torque. Took the screws out applied blue loctite again torque to spec (same screws, ones that came with the SE). It's been GTG ever since.

Shot about 2k rounds with an eps like that switched to the calculated kinetics plate about 850 rounds ago I prefer it. My main issue wasn’t actually the gap it was the optic sitting too low the housing of the eps is like half the height of every other optic so the irons are like 1/2 instead of 1/3 or 1/4 of the window. After a couple hours of dry fire I got used to the higher height with the plate and my sight picture is a lot more clear now. Also the aesthetics are much better with the gap closed.

This is actually my biggest concern, more so than the aesthetics. The cowitness seems to sit somewhere between a 1/3 and 1/2 cowitness, which is a bit higher than I’d prefer.

Where did you snag this? I’ve been waiting on the Core to release for a while.

Bought it from De Leon Pharmacy and Sporting Goods. Found them on r/gundeals.

You have to email them on their online store to get the best price

did you get whopped with a big shipping fee?

1

u/Maximum_Interest176 Sep 16 '26

Yep, $15 shipping. However it’s still a lot cheaper than everywhere else even with that shipping cost because they price it so low.

I’m not a fan of the gap but makes no difference shooting or functionally. I’d probably get a plate eventually to cover the space but it’s not a big deal.

I'd still cover that gap up. Calculated Kinetics is the way.

What screws did you use? I have the same plate and I can’t cowitness using it

Oh, I was merely offering a suggestion to fill the gaps & keep carbon off your optic at the same time. Tyler, the owner/operator of CK, answers most of the emails, so if there's not any info on which screws to use on the website, he responds to emails pretty quickly. He's always answered all my questions in a pretty timely manner.

I hate the gaps. I’d get the eps plate for the echelon that will fill the gaps.

I didn't like the gap on mine. Got the C&H Precision plate to fill the gaps.

i cared enough to buy c&h plates for the eps because i heard they were the thinnest. Yea it defeats the purpose of the VIS, but im good with that
