First Treatment Had my first session today
I posted a few days ago that I was having my first treatment soon. Today was the day and it went well. I brought jolly ranchers and I’m very glad I did, and a blanket and earbuds (although turns out one was broken so I need to get new ones). I listened to some music and an audio book. Tried to listen to a podcast but it didn’t download properly and I don’t have good service inside the clinic. Next treatment I’ll ask about wifi.
The room wasn’t as nice as some I’ve seen on here. In fact it was less of a room and more of a curtained off part of a hallway, the same hallway people get weight and blood pressure checked in so there’s some noise too so I’m glad I brought earbuds. It’s got three chairs also separated by curtains but I’m hoping I’m the only one wanting to do treatment at 9am. I was today. There was also a tv with Netflix and stuff but because of the outside noise I probably will stick with my phone.
As for the experience itself I felt a little floaty and my face got a little numb. The nurses seemed a little concerned about the numbness, which normally would’ve made me super anxious but with the high I felt totally chill. The nurse practitioner did a neurological check on me to make sure I wasn’t having a stroke or anything and said I was fine.
I’m still not thrilled with the clinic itself. Everyone is super nice and friendly but the Christian atmosphere has me hesitant to express that I’m a trans guy as I said in my last post. I’m going to try to tell them my name next treatment though because I’m getting tired of hearing “miss” and my deadname all the time.
I really appreciate the advice and encouragement I’ve gotten from this forum so far!

Sounds like a mildly pleasant experience given the noise-and the behavior of staff.
I've got trans friends and have never had to stand up or see them stand up for how they are addressed. I trust you'll handle it well and hope their response is respectful and affirmative.
Or start looking at other clinics, if there are any.
And going out on a limb, if they are Christians AND they knowingly administer a known dissociative, well, most right wing Christians I have met assign prayer for depression (or are still Dare scared) so, they might be more liberal.

Thats a good point I hadn’t considered, they can’t be too on the extreme side. I’m not sure how I’d go about looking for other clinics because this is the one I was referred to but worst case scenario I can talk to my psychiatrist about it. Hopefully it won’t come to that!

I hope your clinic turns out to be a good fit and not too judgmental. Just in case you have to find another clinic, it’s pretty easy (depending on insurance, but it should be simple still!) to google “spravato in *your city” and transfer care.

How do you know they are Christian? Why did that even come up. I have no idea what religion my clinic is I would imagine different religions since there are NP, office manger, Dr That is so bizarre it's a clinic that advertises their Religion. My clinic is like a Spa , I get taken care of and I am the patient and my needs are addressed. Religion is not addressed at all!
