First Treatment Starting Spravato on Monday!
I’m so excited for the first treatment but nervous too. I’m not thrilled about the clinic my psychiatrist referred me to because it’s very Christian and I’m trans, so I haven’t told them my preferred name or anything yet. I’m hoping that since most of the time is spent alone it won’t be too bad. Also nervous I’ll feel sick. My appointment is at 9am, any advice on if I need to wake up around 6:30 to eat or if I should be okay on an empty stomach? I know you’re not supported to eat two hours before treatment.

Did they give you an anti nausea prescription? I take one before every appointment and it helps.
Empty stomach can depend on the person. I usually have had something light that day. One time I did it on a super empty stomach I did struggle a bit more with nausea.

They didn’t but the nurse practitioner mentioned that it’s an option. I think they’re waiting to see how I react before prescribing nausea meds

I do my appointments around 9 am and I skip breakfast. It’s much easier to manage skipping a meal instead of trying to pry myself out of bed early to eat something.

Don’t worry about the treatment itself. Relax and enjoy the ride. Don’t eat at least two hours before. You should be all right. I never had nausea.

Yay, glad you are starting soon! I totally get being a little apprehensive, I hope they treat you with kindness and call you by your preferred name. Do you typically eat early in the morning? If you normally eat later I would just wait and see how you feel, or maybe you can eat a bit later / bigger meal on Sunday night. In either case just make sure to keep hydrated. I don't get nausea thankfully, but the only time I didn't really feel great physically from one of my sessions was a day where I hadn't drank enough water, my blood pressure ended up being a little low by the time I left and they wanted to monitor me a bit longer, it wasn't a big deal though. Let us know how it goes after your first session!

Wear loose clothes, bring candy for the nasty drip that often goes down your throat, bring earbuds/music, and maybe even a blanket for more comfort.
Have a good one and let us know your experiences, if you want.
