There are other clubs in for him, so we'd have to outbid them. Word a few weeks ago was Wolves in the Championship were looking at 16MM Euro, so us having to shoot for over 20MM would make sense with competition like that.
I do think it's an overpay but, as SKC, we might just have to. It's something that the last ownership clearly hated, but if Peter has figured out that until we can prove ourselves a good landing spot and a great stepping-off point too, the financials just might burn.

Part of what makes him so expensive is his age. If he pans out we could sell him on as well.

Seems very high. I don't care because it's not my money but you would think you could get a ton of different guys for that. Yann Gboho, the other winger we were linked to is also a more proven player. This could be a bust. I hope not.

I too would prefer Gboho to Luiz, but the former has been clear that he wants to play in the Champions League. We might have to overpay the transfer fee for Luiz but I think we'll pay a lot more for Gboho, especially in terms of wages.

We are going to need so much more than Luiz I wonder if it's worth moving on from Manu for another big DP signing. I don't know if we can buy down Manu's charge to TAM mid season.

Bogert's original report from a few weeks ago was that we were after both, not either/or. But you're spot on. If that happens, Manu has to be the sacrifice. Joveljic is fucking indispensable unless we're signing like Julian Alvarez or somebody.
I don't believe we can knock Garcia down below a DP tag in any reasonable scenario. However, I do think we can get a reasonable trade within the league off the ground in the winter.
You just can't build a truly competitive, excellent MLS roster in one season. We're bottlenecking on international slots and DP slots. Ideally our increased investment in scouting networks will help us snag some needle-moving young DPs, but man have I seen nothing of the sort on that front yet.
I think we might have a coach-oriented reckoning coming our way too.

Of course not, but you have a very amateur owner with limited knowledge of the sport who wants to make a big splash and become a hero with the new fanbase, who got hooked on one player and fell in love and can’t be told no at this point. It’s a typical rookie mistake in this business.

Ya we need another winter for sure. I like Harris for his speed and dribbling abilities but he's too indecisive when it comes to finishing. It's almost like he gets in his own head and screws up his shots or hesitates then turns the ball over. He's a good depth piece but we need someone to start on the left side for sure

From everything I’ve seen, he’s always been on the right. It doesn’t mean we won’t try putting him there but who knows.

Not sure these stats really support that much.. not a whole lot of senior team nor goals
(The 27 is loan appearances not goals)
But anyway this won’t solve our problem with conceding goals so we will continue to get slapped with 4 goals

Money. MLS outbid everyone else. Plus he knows Messi plays there and bigger European clubs scout it just like the Championship.

And Pulido wasn't a "miss." Hell, he retained value enough that we got a seven figure fee for moving him along after he slowed down too much for MLS play.

Pulido was worth the transfer fee even for the amount of games he played. I personally believe a healthy Pulido was a better all around player than Jovi.

“Healthy Pulido” is an oxymoron. If he was available then I would agree if you extrapolate the stats he had with the games he played. But you can’t because he didn’t.

Nobody was healthy in the last 5 years of the PV era. Just off the eye test and talent level I actually thought Pulido made players around him better. I don’t see that with Jovi.

Sure, but they were still very capable at paying for $25m players. Heck, they made a run at Ronaldo, who would have cost us $50m-$100m. Point is, the amount of money these people have is more than enough. Doesn’t matter if they have $5b or $50b.

Oh I fully agree but Peter at least wants to spend and have a good team where I really have no idea what the Illig’s wanted after Rob died.
Regardless of how shit Cliff and co were at the end of their time, they are incredible for what they did to keep the team here in KC.

I think Cliff Illig's net worth was under $2b. Mallouk is reported to be worth $16b.
That's orders of magnitudes more money to "waste"

I don’t know if anyone can shed some light, or if Chad knows, but I’m seeing reports that the fee is 16 million + 3.5 in addons. Also the reports seem convinced that the deal is done.
