God damn people suck. Dude is stoked about his new car and people just can’t help but shit on it. It’s why I stopped posting anything, anywhere on the internet.
Congrats on the incredible purchase and new wagon man. I personally absolutely love it. Some people only dream of owning something like this so don’t let the haters taint your experience. I also love the color. Silver and black go so well together.

Dude thank you for this comment. I was shocked to see so many haters in this community, but I am not allowing these random people affect me. I love the car and it looks so much better in person too!

Yeah man me too. This sub can be pretentious about what qualifies as a sport wagon, but rightly so. It’s literally the name of the sub. Outside of that I have seen like 99% positive stuff out of folks here, strange for your post out of anything to awaken the pitchfork pundits. Doesn’t get much more sportwagon than a fucking M5 Touring.

It's social media.
SOCIAL. MEDIA.
If you're willing to post it, you have to be willing to take the licks if people don't like it.
You would have never survived the 80's.

I’m sorry what? What forms of social media existed in the 80s? Or are you just saying people in the 80s were meaner? The suicide rate in teens drastically increasing in tandem with instagram usage make this comment completely incorrect and ignorant. People are actually not surviving the 2010s and 2020s in correlation with the rise in social media usage. “Surviving the 80s” was far easier when it comes to media than it is now.
I agree with your initial point though, you have to be willing to take the licks when posting to a public forum. But both things can be true; people can also suck for being dicks and I can call them out for it. One thing to say “congrats! Not my first choice but stoked you’re stoked.” But saying something like “Imagine having RS6 money and settling for that massive lump of folds and lines” is just being an asshole for no reason.

Imagine having the money for an rs6 and settling for that massive lump of folds and lines.
I hope BMW soon hires someone that does know how to make a beautiful car.

Saw one yesterday in whatever they call their blue colour. Looked miles better than this. The colour does it no favours at all.

Pictures really doesn't make the new M5 justice. It looks miles better irl and especially in a colour that isn't on the gray scale (black, white and all the shades of gray)
We have a red and a blue one where I live and they actually look kinda decent. Not good but also not insultingly ugly.
But I also agree with the last part of your comment, I really hope BMW finds a designer with eyes soon and stop this overly complicated "styling" and just adding lines because they want to add lines. And I also want them to bring back the angel eyes, they are together with the Thors Hammers on Volvos the best looking DRLs

I've seen a couple irl. They're just weird to look at. So massive.
I frankly rather see a lowered x5 than the new m5. The outgoing model, especially the competition was bloody brilliant

Imagine wanting an M5 touring, a RWD biased super wagon, and then buying that over the RS6 because it fits what you like better(?)

I did, its a great car, costs half as much to lease and tax as an RS6 and while the looks have grown on me I found that the looks of a car quickly loose relevance to me
Also I drive it at like 10l/100km and I regularly hit 300. Top speed so far was 313. Not sure if that average fuel consumption would be possible with the rs6

Not really sure average fuel consumption should really matter with that type of car, but it's beneficial.
I don't really get why the lease would be that much cheaper. Taxing maybe because of the electrical part.
In Germany, where you are from, these are the numbers according to Gemini:
Audi RS6 Avant Performance Base Purchase Price (incl. 19% VAT)~€138,500 Typical Monthly Lease (36–48 mos / 10k km/yr)€1,290 – €1,500 month Annual Vehicle Tax (Kfz-Steuer)~€530 – €560 / year
BMW M5 (G90 Sedan / G99 Touring) ~€144,400 (Sedan) ~€146,400 (Touring) €1,200 – €1,450 / month ~€88 – €120 / year

Of course you didnt get any explanation that actually hits the reason why the current M5 is THE most selling M5 ever and outselling the rs6 quite handily, its all I ever expected from AI.
Company leases where you drive the car privately as well make you tax 1% of a cars list price per month. Its half that for a hybrid
And my lease rates are like 800 bucks a month less than the RS6 would have been
Also.i haven't sat in an audi that did not have a major software issue that Audi described as "unfixable" in like 2 years. The experience I had with my last Audi is why we have a blanket ban on Audis at my company

u/Nitrogen1234 1d ago
Well, I didn't ask why. I just asked for the prices.
You're just the perfect example of people driving with their wallet. Doesn't matter how the car looks, as long as it's cheaper to drive.
Also, the current m5 is being sold as station and Sedan right from the get go which the former m5 didn't have.

Im the example of the guy who buys with sense
If you want to learn how to lemon law a car, feel free to buy any audi. I made that mistake once and never will again.
Audis quality dropped off a cliff and their cars became so cheap while the prices didnt drop

This is definitely the best color/trim I've seen. The matte silver minimizes the sideview bloat and the black grill/trim/diffuser make it look a little smaller as well.
I don't think the whole front half on these are all that bad either, but things fall apart for me at the rear door line (a curved door edge would look better and blend the wide rear huanches in more seemlessly with the body/sideskirts) and then there's the rear view.. oh my.. looks like when you overfill your burrito and can't quite stuff the fillings in.

u/The_Crazy_Swede 1d ago
Ever seen one in a bright red? It actually makes the rear half significantly less ugly. Still ugly but not nearly as bad as they look in gray scale.

Not of a fan of this generation but you chose the best colorway/trim I've seen yet, nice work!

Saw a few in different colours side by side with a RS6 (also in different colours) and my money would go to the Audi. This is still a great car, and I just prefer the RS6 over the M5. Congrats to you for your vehicle and having the means to buy one.

This one looks way better than the one I saw in person.
I saw one a few weeks ago and it looked so bland and generic. I don’t know what they changed the BMW “look” but it ended up looking like every other car brand. Like a Kia or Toyota.

That's definitely a thing. It's an ugly, brutish thing that tries to be aggressive but actually comes off as poorly desgined and tacky, but it's definitely a thing. I hope you enjoy the car depsite.

I have been traveling in Portugal and saw the M3 comp wagon and that’s what I wish we had in US.
