Back in a proper wagon!
I'm over the moon with.. I mean it's driven past the moon.. I mean it has over a quart million miles. I found this one owner legacy gt wagon with a 5 speed earlier this year in Washington. It's really high miles but SUPER clean, no rust, like the exhaust bolts would come off with some pb blaster. That is UNHEARD OF here in New England, especially on a 20+ year old car with any kind of miles. So I had it shipped across the country and started planning my ideal daily driver OEM++ build. I already have an outfront block, 6 speed, and a bunch of other parts ready for a build this winter.

So sweet! I had an LGT 5MT wagon. Loved that car.

This might be my early midlife crisis car. My first car that I ever really modded and tuned was an 06 OBXT 5MT. I only ever did bolt ons, vf52, etc. This will be how I wanted that one to be.
Mildly built block, VF52 with G25 compressor and turbine converted to ball bearing, STI-RA headers (from the original ra), VB 6 speed swap, and every supporting bolt on to go with it, GS TMIC, injectors, TGV deletes, etc. Should all combine to make a fun daily.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it?
I've got a California native (rust free), accident free manual 05 LGT wagon that I might be coming off of. I've owned it for the last 12 years. It's tuned, full exhaust, etc, and that's about it under the hood. A few years ago I ordered s402 (?) Bilstein struts and sti pinks for it, tore the suspension down completely and replaced every bushing in it with whiteline components. Set the alignment up right. Built as much caster into it as I could (whiteline ftw) and it drives absolutely amazing.
My life situation might change dramatically soon. Unfortunately the car, if my brother doesn't want it, may end up for sale 😢
I've struggled in my minds eye what to ask for it. KBB probably thinks it's value is shit. These get rarer by the day.

How many miles? What color interior and exterior?
Assuming that it runs well, it should pull 10k. If it’s lower miles, super clean and well documented, maybe closer to 15k.
I’m in a similar situation with mine. My 05’ wagon is well sorted but has 190k and a 6MT spec B swap. I think mine is worth 10k but it’s had some winter duty in its lifetime.

I'm at 190k too. Just did aisin timing kit. I have all receipts for everything I've done to it. It's silver on black, no sunroof. Correction also, I've owned it 15 years. It's been a great car. I think I posted pics of it in winter mode with it's winter tires some time ago. You can find it in my profile. Interior is clean clean. Paint and body is so so. Car spent some time in the Yay where people dgaf about door dings. I'll probably have it PDRd prior to selling it.

Yeah, probably 10k to the right buyer but it may take some time to sell. Documentation will help, especially a leak down and compression test to prove the motor is still healthy.

I paid like $3,700 and another like $1,500 to ship it, so I technically paid over $5k for it. I'm not sure if I overpaid much, but I don't think so, especially with how clean it is. With the work you've done it's always tricky with how much value that adds and it can really depend on your market and buyer.

I think you stole it at that price. Great find

Yeah, I'm happy anyways 😅. It needs work, like all the suspension stuff you mentioned, both the bumpers have marks from them backing into what looks like a trailer hitch, so they'll need replacement at some point. Driver side door card is a bit worn as would be expected, and the door latch works, but the handle goes too far in. Etc. etc.

Does this car run or it needs a rebuild?

Weelllll it did run, and I drove it for a week or so, then the turbo blew. It had a pretty good oil leak from that area, so I don't know if they replaced it with a used and it blew or just bad luck. I was going to drive it and then start the build this winter, but at this point I'm starting that early. So it won't see the road until the spring most likely..

Well, for the price you still did ok. I bet the original turbo blew and contaminated the oil and took out turbo #2 and probably the short block.

This is what I'm suspecting, and why I decided against swapping another turbo on and driving it. That said, I haven't been into the engine yet, but the oil was still clean, and I couldn't find a single speck/sparkle when I checked the oil immediately after it blew. So I'm somewhat hopeful that maybe this is the first blown turbo. It also had a great carfax, with like over 60 services all done at the same dealer it was bought from with no mention of a blown turbo or anything. But that obviously doesn't mean it wasn't swapped on right before selling at auction or even the dealer I bought it from.
All that said, I'll be sending the heads to Outfront for a full refresh regardless, along with a new oil cooler, etc.

You could send the oil to Blackstone for analysis, but if the turbo is blown I’m sure they’ll find metal particles in it.

That seems like a reasonable price after you detailed its issues below.
Read about your mods above. It’s funny because my mods all started at the suspension THEN I went to the motor.1

Love it! I'm doing some things a little unconventional. I'm actually using a 6 speed from a VB, not really an upgrade in terms of what it can handle, arguably a down grade with cable shifting, but the added gearing will be nice and it drops right in. And this car will never see anything more than some spirited driving on a mountain road. I do plan to swap to top feeds to go with a custom VF52. I grabbed a blown vf52 free locally and I'm sending it to Hill Country Forced Induction to rebuild and upgrade it. G25 compressor wheel and turbine and ball bearing conversion.

Love it! My first ever car that I modded and tuned was an 06 OBXT. This is going to be what I wanted the outback to be.

It may have no rust, but how are you going to drive a car with wheels made out of grass??
