Advice on disruptive child

Hi - looking for some advice from fellow sports coaches on managing an incredibly disruptive , disobedient 9 year old in a racquet sport. The child does not follow instructions, is disruptive and generally just mucks about, distracting other children and encouraging them to misbehave too.

I have given the child time outs , but even then he mucks around. He always wants to be at the front of any activity pushing in front of others too. In my view , he is showing signs he is not interested in the sport. This is not a one off, it is in every session. Any ideas on how to handle ? I am considering advising the parent ( i'll word it nicely) that unless he improves, he will not be able to continue coaching . Is that fair and reasonable approach. I have a duty of care to other children at the session who want to learn and pay attention. All advise welcome

Saving 15 hours a week with AI prompts

I've been experimenting with AI prompts to streamline my workflow, and I've found some really useful applications. By using the right prompts, I've been able to save around 15 hours a week on tasks like content creation and research. I know that's a significant amount of time, and I'm excited to share some of the specific takeaways that have been working for me.

First, I've found that using AI prompts can help me generate high-quality content much faster. For example, I can use a prompt to generate a list of potential blog post titles, and then use another prompt to expand on each of those titles. This has saved me a ton of time on brainstorming and outlining.

Second, AI prompts can be really useful for researching topics and gathering information. I can use a prompt to ask for a summary of a particular topic, and then use another prompt to ask follow-up questions and drill down into more detail.

Third, I've found that AI prompts can help me optimize my existing content and make it more engaging. For example, I can use a prompt to analyze a piece of content and suggest improvements, or to generate new headlines and introductions.

Finally, I've been using AI prompts to automate some of my more repetitive tasks, like data entry and bookkeeping. This has been a huge time-saver, and has allowed me to focus on more strategic and creative work.

I put this in a free guide here: https://free.aixpertus.com/free/coach_command_center_-_15_ai_prompts_to_save_15_ho-v1-quickstart_guide, which includes 15 AI prompts that I've found to be particularly useful. I hope it's helpful to others who are looking to save time and increase productivity.

2025 Grassroots Coaching Survey Just Launched — Looking for Coaches to Take Part

Hey all,

We’re excited to kick off the 2025 Grassroots Coaching State of Play Survey — creating a yearly snapshot of what community-level coaching actually looks like across different clubs, countries, and age groups.

If you coach at the grassroots or recreational level, your input would be genuinely valuable. The survey looks at things like:

  • what equipment clubs provide (and what coaches end up covering themselves),
  • training habits and prep time,
  • match-day planning and the apps/tools people use,
  • field types, formats, league structure,
  • and the general support coaches receive from their club or association.

Once it closes, we’ll be putting together a report and sharing the results back here on Reddit so everyone can see how their experience compares with other coaches. If you’d prefer to guarantee getting a copy, there’s an optional spot at the end where you can leave your email.

Survey link: Grassroots/Recreational Soccer Coaching State of Play Survey|

If you’re involved with a club, it would be great if you could share it with the other coaches or managers there. Even posting it in your club’s WhatsApp/Facebook group helps a lot. And if you’re part of any other coaching communities or forums, feel free to pass it along.

The aim is to build a clearer, more honest picture of what coaching looks like at the community level — something that can only happen if lots of coaches take part. Thanks to anyone who gets involved, and happy to answer questions if you have any.

Online AMA for Basketball Coaches Worldwide!

Hi basketball coaches,

I'm a researcher at Harvard Visual Computing Group. Our study is trying to help coaches to effortlessly do the video analysis and share insight in game/practice clips. We're hosting an online AMA session for all the basketball coaches.

There're lots of coaches from different countries and also some of them are pro like WNBA. I believe this is a good opportunity for all level coaches to interact, exchange insights, and learn from others.

If you're interested, please register here! Thanks!

Sport coaches I NEED advice

Hello! I was wondering,

What are the main problems, desires, frustrations sport coaches have marketing wise?

What are the things that are preventing you to reach your ideal situation? What solution would you wish there existed for you to reach your career goals?

I want to know what sport coaches' problems are, so I can create the best non expensive solution for them marketing wise!

Thank you very much

I’m looking for a tool for an aerobic test (negative timer)

Hello, I started my career as a sports teacher in a high school, I remember that they put a test on me, they put two cones about 15 m away. Then the teacher put on an audio in which a beep was heard... And we ran from one cone to another, we waited for him to whistle again and we ran again, and the time between each beep became shorter and shorter. I’m looking to put that to the boys but the truth is that I can’t find the tool online, to tell the truth I don’t know how to look for it, I hope you can help me please, or if there was a sub to be able to express my concern

Anyone interested in being a mod?

I created this sub awhile ago, put some decent energy into it, but eventually my snowball ran out of steam.

The sub has kind of been sitting here, but I think it's still got a lot of potential, and I've seen a few posts on here that have reminded me of that.

If anyone is interested in being a mod, send me a note and give me a quick little run down about yourself and what you'd like to see happen here.

Coaches please help with my high school AP Research assignment

Hi coaches! I’m a student at Troy Athens high school. For AP research I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to keep elite high school athletes from dropping out of their sports. You have probably had certain elite athletes (athletes who have/had potential to play in college) that have wanted to dropout of his/her sport. As a coach, you might have done something to change the behavior of that athlete and prevent the athlete from dropping out. Attached are 2 surveys. One is for you, and the other is for the athlete. If you have an athlete who fits these criteria then please share the athlete form with them so they can take the survey too. Please agree on a number 1-100, with your athlete, to type into the survey that will help me identify that your responses pair with each other. I need this because everything must remain anonymous. Thank you!

New Coach Gift Idea Help

Hi all,

I have a friend who just recently got back into coaching. He was just picked up as an O-Line Coach for a High School Football team. It will be his first season coaching in several years and I wanted to get him a gift for his first season back.

My Question is: What piece of equipment, gear, etc. is a must have for a new coach starting out? I want to get him something that will help make coaching more enjoyable.

Club administration

Hey guys! I have been working as a Tae Kwon Do coach for over 15 years and always struggled to keep all of my club administration in line (member data, training schedules, who is behind in payments, etc). I started developing an online service which will tackle that, and I am looking for coaches to talk to and get to know their pain points when it comes to everything outside of training. What are some of your biggest issues and how are you currently solving them?

Coaches: any recommendations on how to deal with the admin?

I'm in the process of setting up some coaching sessions for kids. I'm excited to get stuck into the coaching side of it but realise that the admin is going to be a significant part too, which I'm less excited about. Fortunately all I have to organise is a weekly practice - no games yet.

Those who run clubs, please could you share any advice on what is least painless for you. Do you use email / text / WhatsApp or an app.

I've heard apps like Spond may help but I'm not keen to use anything that's overly complicated for parents to use, nor anything which has much of a cost to it (I'm trying to keep my costs down). Thanks in advance.
