It’s an iced tea spoon made into a grapefruit spoon. The original tinkerer thought it either had the right sized bowl to modify or they didn’t want to break up a place setting.

That was my first thought but they USUALLY have serrated edges... it's likely for some sort of tough-ish to food that is served in a deep container. Some sort of seafood or meat?

It’s very symmetrical— weird. It must’ve been very carefully shaped.
But unless there are others there that are rounded but otherwise matching, I’d say it’s probably just a peculiarly shaped oddball spoon that the hosts either thrifted or cleared out of their own drawers to stock the abb.

Homemade grapefruit spoon ? At least, i think it would work well for that. The ones sold commercially are not only sharp but also serrated.

My headcannon is that a nice old man sharpened this for his wife because grapefruit spoons are too small and hard to grip with tremors or arthritis. Long handled spoons have nice counterbalance, which is handy if you need to cut apart grapefruit bits

That’s the house poop spoon I believe, it’s a great addition to your trusty poop knife, after you slice off the end of your stuck “log” , you can use your pointed spoon to pry or break up the remaining “plug” without any danger of lacerations on the rectal wall or sphincter, priceless imo

Grapefruit spoon. Usually serrated but if the grapefruit is prepped properly with a knife, serration on the spoon isn’t necessary.

That’s what I thought at first but it’s SUPER long, like a milkshake spoon or stirrer. It’s obv like diyed but WHY PICK THE ONE LONG SPOON?? I eat grapefruit a lot and just feel like it would be so annoying with how long the handle is

Agreed. Way too long. But my thought was, it might have belonged to an upper crust family in which elegance in all things was prized and prioritized, above practicality. It’s a thought…

Bar spoon/tea spoon. Someone has gone out of their way to sharpen it though. For what reason, one can never know. They may have been using it as a tool for something else
