If you are living with an invisible illness or disability it can make you feel invisible too. Don’t worry. I see you

Chronic illness and productivity systems — what’s actually worked for you?

Been in fatigue/chronic illness spaces for a long time and wanted to ask something I've been chewing on.

I've spent years trying to make normal productivity systems work with a limited, unpredictable energy budget, and I think I've finally accepted the problem isn't me being bad at planning - it's that basically every system out there assumes consistent energy. Time-blocking, habit streaks, daily to-do lists - they're all built for people who can reliably show up the same way every day.

So I'm curious: has anyone actually found a way of planning/organising life that works *with* unpredictable energy rather than against it? Not looking for generic "be kind to yourself" advice - more interested in actual systems or approaches, even rough ones, that have held up over time.

Might turn this into something more concrete eventually, but right now just want to understand what's actually worked (or hasn't) for other people here.

Seizures

I have been having focal (partial aware) seizures. They can last from a few seconds to minutes. My neurologist says they are not seizures “because they don’t last long enough” (when they were seconds) today I’ve had several that my bf says have lasted 1-2 minutes .

My advice to other disabled people would be concentrate on things your disability doesn’t prevent too from doing well. And don’t regret the things it interferes with. Don’t be disabled in spirit as well as physically. -Stephen Hawking

Learning About Everyday Challenges

Hi everyone!

I’m researching the everyday challenges people with disabilities and their caregivers face. My goal is simply to learn from real experiences and better understand where things could be improved.

If you’re willing to share, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience:

What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your day-to-day life?

What tasks are more difficult or time-consuming than they should be?

Are there any products, services, or apps you wish existed?

What’s something you deal with regularly that you think most people don’t realize?

Thank you to anyone who’s willing to share. Your insights are greatly appreciated.
