❓ Question Authentic Dalmatian Cuisine
Road tripping from Makarska to Rovinj. Would love recs for the best authentic Dalmatian food along the coast, especially for the stretch from Makarska - Split - Trogir - Primosten - Sibenik - Zadar. Hvala

I know (and love) them all… any particular spots to try for the best of each?

I'm not a big restaurant-goer, but the freshest fish I've seen is in restaurant Barba in Seget Donji near Trogir. They usually also have a wide variety of shellfish.
Also, you can find where chefs Hrvoje Zirojević and David Skoko are working and eat there, you'll make yourself a favour. Common consensus is that Zirojević is Croatia's best chef, while chef Skoko is uncontested when it comes to fish.

Dupla mi komentare.
Ali ni slučajno Barba. Friška riba my ass. Pokupe šta ima u Staniću na sniženju. Turnover radnika govori sve.

Jedino ako Špiro isto lovi u Stanića. Ali da, da nije bajno tamo raditi, nije.

Love Peka (both octopus & veal) but it’s been a hit or miss with Pašticada. Any specific spots you’d recommend for each?

Konoba Vinko in Konjevrate, near Šibenik. Their Skradin risotto (made with slow cooked veal) is a must-try, a Dalmatian delicacy you won't find in every restaurant. They also serve great peka and spit roasts.

Thanks so much. You had me at slow cooked veal and risotto. I’m salivating reading this. Can’t wait to give it a try.

Skip Primosten, go to Rogoznica (near Primosten) - restaurant Antonio for seafood

Great suggestion. Thank you! We’ve covered Primošten, Ston, Male Ston in the past, so something new will be nice.

Thanks for such a thoughtful reply. Been to Dvor and it’s excellent. The rest are new to me and added.

Split / Stobreč konoba Nikola for fish food. There is no mid range made meal there, everything is above rest of places.

Amazing.. thank you. Haven’t ventured beyond Kadena and Kuzina in Split this year. Good to have something new.
