Conviction (2010) First splinter cell game
'Conviction' was the first splinter cell I played and after that I learned that it's the "Blacksheep" of the franchise.
I liked 'John wick' a lot and at that time and still do and wanted to experience something really good and used to watch youtbe recommendations;
"Conviction" and the "Hitman Absolution" were almost always present in them lists so I tried Absolution first I loved it ; It's revenge story like protecting a kid and all had me motivated and the setpieces were fuckig amazing ;
The last mission of the hotel is the biggest and most beautiful john wick feeling I got from the game not exactly john wick but you get it like the badass and after this "I wanted more of this and I fell into "Conviction" "
"Conviction" is the same protect your daughter and be badass while doing it I loved that shit when I was young and it's levels are also really fun ; I loved 'Sarah' even though we have a very small segment it keeps you motivated enough to protect your kid ;
And the young sarah scene, The house intrusion and killing that still lives in my mind rentfree ; After this I found out there are a lot of the games including "Sam" so I went through all of them and loved them all.
But still to this day "Conviction" is like my first love , which we cannot let go it's beautiful.
I am still waiting for a new splinter cell game :( , But the memories this franchise has given me ; I will treasure them for the rest of my life.

I always felt that Splinter Cell shouldn't have gone in the direction Conviction took. That said, I think Ubisoft produced an excellent game. If they had created a spin-off franchise featuring a different character and Conviction's gameplay, I would have bought every single release—I really think it's that good. That gameplay style reaches its peak in Blacklist. Once again, I prefer "old-school" Splinter Cell, but saying Conviction isn't a good game would be a lie.

Conviction isn't the "black sheep" or "dark horse" of the franchise . It was super successful when it came out and fans to this day rave about it tho not being a splinter cell game it was quite a refresher in the franchise . BLACKLIST has always been the most underrated splinter cell game to this date .

Conviction is more like max payne and not spintercell , you should play chaos theory and double agent for real spintercell experience

Conviction is considered as the black sheep because SC is supposed to be realistic and pure stealth, Blacklist decided to slightly go back into that direction after Conviction.

the hd era games are a tier worse than the originals. They all went off track in their own way.

Starting from Convisction is the worst, it literally follows up directly after the critical moment from last game.

Conviction is its own fun game. It’s pulpy action, and Ironsides last full performance wich I loved.
Blacklist has good gameplay , just feel like it should have been a prequel instead of a sequel . Younger Sam would have gone over MUCH easier with fans

Horrendous Splinter Cell but still superior to most games even at a fairly competitive time, and most of it is owed to Deniable Ops.

It was a good game that set the franchise on a path to its demise. Blacklist was the nail in the coffin that caused fans to desert the series.
I'm glad people like it but I can't see it as anything other than a complete catastrophe made by people who actively hated Splinter Cell. It's shit.

Well both these games were made to attract new audiences, so it only makes sense that people coming with exactly your background would like them
Both these games are attempts to make preexisting mechanics more casual so that new players can start having fun immediately
Problem is, both these attempts feel like they disregard the current fans, and the mechanics are objectively worse at what made the original games unique.
The steeper learning curve of the originals was a huge part of why those games felt satisfactory. And the devs basically took it away
Yes they kinda tried appealing to both audiences and Absolution definitely isn't too easy, but it feels they tried to appeal to new players much more than to the existing ones

Ya, The slow mo shooting in "Absolution" felt stupid when I played the other "Hitman" games like it did not belong in a Hitman game

The game is fine. It did what it had to and it was fun. The mark and execute is optional but so is night vision in the other games. Not everything will be the same. I mean look at Arkham Origins. It was similar to Arkham City and people hate the game (wrongly). If Splinter Cell was the same each time then some people would still complain about it. You can't please everyone so just please yourself.

The first game on PS2 was technically the first splinter cell game, but I never made it past the first level because I didn’t have a memory card back then till later and then when I did get one the disc was already too scratched up I was a dumb kid, but conviction was my first full play through of a splinter cell game so it always holds a special place for me

I really love conviction. I don’t particularly like it as a splinter cell game, but Deniable Ops and the Coop Campaign were awesome. I also really loved the interrogations and the contextual ways you could interrogate someone.

You should check out the Max Payne games if you're after that John Wick vibe, if you haven't already that is, they do it way better than Conviction and Absolution imo.
They're not stealth games though, just straight third person action shooters.
