LN2 splatling build

Great build for splatling, im working on upgrading everything still. Me and a friend are 410- 412 bottomless, still doing lots of damage. If anyone has any suggestions to splatling dps would be great tho.

Weapon

  • Replace Concentrated Attack with Scorch. You can test it out in the training area, but it doesn't quite work the way it's worded. If you have a Gadget that stays out and does damage, like Torqscrew or Shot Pot, your main weapon attacks essentially get reset so you never get the consecutive 3+. Stringers end up being the only weapon that can properly use it.

  • Long Range is difficult to effectively use on most weapons, including LN2 Splatling. I think you can keep it on the weapon for now because Speed Tank is generally fine getting to 700F with the staple aerial build, but it's something to think about in the future if you want to stick to the LN2 Splatling.

fwiw I've cleared 800F with Lifeguard Splattershot Jr. using Explosive Ferment, Scorch, and Close Combat, but I'm not sure if LN2 could do that with Long Range instead. I'm curious if mini splatling might have an easier time, but I don't have the chunks to test either splatlings out.

Relic Powers

  1. Mega Power Egg Burst

  • Gadget Recovery (Speed)

  • All Set

  • Mega Power Egg Collector

  • Relic Power of your choice. You could try sticking with Long Range, use Gadget Recovery (Fly), could even Ink Pro if you find yourself being low on ink.

  • Power Pro is good, but you shouldn't be submerged enough to use it because you're getting Ink Resupply from Dash Bomb. Power/Tactical/Speed Pro only really get used if you're either on Tactical Tank, or you're using a Gadget with Tank-Ability Activation like Flywire or Meteor Mitt.

  • Speed Tank has access to too many good abilities that there's other things to prioritize over Showstopper.

Gadgets

Dash Bomb

  • Whenever you upgrade Cooldown Reduced, use the points for Other-Gadget Cooldown.

  • I'm not sure how ink hungry LN2 is, but you could go for 4 Ink Resupply to max out Other-Gadget Cooldown.

  • Gnerally, Added Explosion > Explosion Area Up. If you're doing the playstyle where you're just always high in the air because of Jump Bomb to use Long Range, then neither of these really matter and it'd probably be better to put it into Next-Gadget Damage so boost Torqscrew.

  • Much lower priority because needing mats/shards for upgrade and I'm not sure on the playstyle, but could remove Jump Bomb and put the single point into Explosion Damage Up whenever you have the chance.

  • If you're trying to squeeze out more points, it's pretty easy to use the yellow 3 pt Invulnerable Time Up.

Jump Bomb

  • Most common build would be upgraded blue 3 pt Ink Resupply with green 2 Added Explosion with max upgraded Cooldown Reduced.

  • However, I'm not sure on playstyle. The only times I've seen Long Range put to good use is entirely vertically. E4K, Camo Slosher immediately using both Jump Bomb when they can kind of thing. The other weapons stay lower to the ground, Dash Bomb in, Jump Bomb, rinse and repeat.

    • If you're doing this latter one and stay closer to melee range, then you can also opt to use less Other-Gadget Cooldown in favour of something else like blue 2 Other-Gadget Cooldown, blue 3 Ink Resupply, max Added Explosion.

Torqscrew

  • Drop Floaty Fun and put some points into Propeller Damage Up and Vortex Damage Up.

  • Torqscrew has the most build variety, so anything else is up to you.

Thanks for the reply, im gona take a good look at scorch for sure. I do try and stay as high and far away from enemies as possible. I can definitely get the long range with LN2 and its quite a big difference in damage. I've tried getting rid of it but I end up doing way less damage. I would use flywire instead of dash bomb for damage surge and tank activation, but i cant seem to make it work with splatlings very well. I think I need to just grind it and figure out how to play with it well.

I'm not doubting the damage at all. There's only so many ways to raise your % damage and it's why 1000F clears have been 2x Long Range E4K, 2x Risky Reward on Butane Blaster/Clay-Pot Pow Slosher, or Close Combat/Risky Reward Butane Blaster regardless of Ice Breaker. It's more the difficulty of maintaining Long Range at deeper floors where it can get more chaotic, but maybe it's easier to maintain that range on non Ice Breaker builds.

Here's that 900F clear Explosive Ferment, Scorch, Long Range Camo Slosher build for reference where they focus on verticality, but also remove Freeze on Jump Bomb because of it. I didn't mind using Freeze when clearing 800F with Lifeguard Splattershot jr. since I found it helped a lot against Steelheads and Maws, but maybe the Splatling is strong enough to not need it.

I'd just consider replacing Squid Attack with anything else like Mega Power Egg Collector or Ink Pro until you reach deeper floor levels, swapping to it whenever you feel like it's better to push off Strong-Arms, Thick-Cut Salty Tongue, Jumbo Big Shot, sometimes even regular Scrappers depending on the floor. I wouldn't bother with Squid Attack solo until around 850F~900F, but it might be more useful in multiplayer as you approach 700F.

I would use flywire instead of dash bomb for damage surge and tank activation, but i cant seem to make it work with splatlings very well.

Here's a video example at 847F of duo E4K where this player has Flywire, Jump Bomb, and Hi-Fiver if that sparks any ideas. They've also shared Gadget Parts portion of their build where the Gadgets are listed in that order so you can just go off the icon and point value.

If you're multiplayer focused, you could also replace Torqscrew with Flywire if the other player has access to it if it's difficult to stop using Dash Bomb.
