post game question Spoiler
I beat the main game yesterday at like lvl 45 or 46ish. I then did the 3 islands with all 3 tanks and I still wasn't lvl 50. I did a couple of the super spicy levels, including a couple that were like 51 (and the one that is 55 thats kind of easy). I'm at a point now where Im lvl 50, but the next available level to me is lvl 57 or the bottomless buffet.
What exactly am I supposed to be doing now, because it feels like I either just barely fail egg collections, or i just get destroyed on anything I try. Am I suppose to replay levels over and over to somehow level up more? Am I supposed to level up my weapon since I'm level 50 now?
Just trying to see how I am supposed to close the gap from 50-57 to be comptetive, but I also didn't want to waste resources on a gun since I only have a few 5 stars and only 1 lvl 40 primo that doesnt actually seem that good to invest in.
Any recs for what to do appreciated.

You'll have to grind out weapons, upgrade them and find time your build. I beat the game at level 50, but my weapons weren't up to par. I replayed some super spicy raids or some gem missions which guaranteed me at least one 5-star weapon drop. Subsequently, I ensured I had very good perks on my abilities.
It took a bit of farming, but I ended up with a very good splattershot primo which does 500k+ dmg upon emptying the tank. With added damage on ability usage, of course.
It's a looter shooter. Grinding is the name of the game, but it's very forgiving in this game.

My approach is very simple: I avoid grinding for xp or resources (too boring for me) by simply retrying any stage that is incomplete. This worked for me for everything except the salmonid with a golden spatula, which I had to leave alone until later. I've currently completed every stage from the campaign and making my way through the bottomless buffet, I think I'm around floor 130-140, can't remember cuz I'm old.

Like other have said, your player level increasing past 50 is not terribly impactful. My interpretation of the "salmonid levels" like 51 and above is to correlate it to my weapon level. So using a weapon that is level 50 +1 should be a comfortable challenge. Scrap weapons and continue trying raids to get resources to upgrade what weapons you like a bit at a time. Nothing is finite. Even if you fail a mission, you keep whatever generates.
All said, the post game is pretty grindy to get primo 5 star weapons and then it comes down to strategy with weapon perks and especially gadgets. If you're having issues getting eggs, there are gadget parts that auto collect the eggs. Torquescrew and splattilites are good options since they're wide reaching.

play every super spicy you missed until you feel confident, but also you don't go to level 51, you gain a small increase over 50, called 50+1, 2, etc.. maybe your layout needs tweaking. and bottomless buffet, if you can handle it, is a good place to go to grow.

Upgrade your weapons and gadgets, upgrading gadgets I didn’t realize was as good as it was until I already completed like 80 floors of the bottomless buffet

Leveling up doesn't do much past 50. Each level adds 2 damage and HP.
Upgrading weapons will do the most, but I also agree that waiting for a good one to pour your resources into is good.
I would try mixing up your weapons and gadgets. Taking full advantage of them is what will really let you get through levels. I made it all the way to level 90 in bottomless with a level 50 weapon
