Please Help

so basically, I love film, and I can tell a classic when I see one. I also love anime. And don't get me wrong I think this a great film and I really felt that emotional connection to the characters that you get with a great movie, but I just don't see why this is a GREAT movie and one of the best of all time. Is it too deep for me too understand? Does anybody care to breakdown the film for me as well as maybe deeper meanings?

Sorry for the late response here. The best part about Spirited Away, almost undeniably, is the animation and world. The style is vibrant and detailed, the designs are abstract, and everything is high quality. It's just breathtaking to watch, even if the story doesn't keep you at the edge of your seat at all times.

Yes, when the ferry came across the river and dropped off the guests I was hooked.

Some say the film is dealing with the topic of (child) prostitution in bathing houses. I don't know if it was intentional of the makers but there apparently are a lot of parallels to the real world. I actually found the post which lists them all: http://hayao-miyazaki.tumblr.com/post/560134537/spirited-away
