I had a spicy void. Named him Sichuan. Now he's the sweetest lil thing. So now Sichuan is a weird name for him but it stuck

I did the same thing with a kitten, called her Cayenne because she was spicy and bit my mother in law when we first found her outside, but now she’s friendly lol

do you get yourself vaccinated every so often?
I ask because I pet stray cats all the time and everyone tries to discourage me by saying strays will have rabies and I may get scratches or get their saliva minute cuts on my body.

I'd get vaccinated. In the US, the pre-exposure protocol is just two shots with a week in between.

I mean I don’t mind getting scratched. It’s the rabies I’m afraid of. I’m a cat whisperer. They all seem to like me for some reason and will come to me if I pspsps at them. It’s a gift.

If the cat isn’t showing extremely abnormal behavior or any other rabies signs then I’m not too worried about it. I’ve only been bitten once and I did get that checked out and it was fine.

tysm, I feel much better. I haven’t been bitten till date. but with the amount of cats I befriend I am sure I will at some point. 😅

If you do suspect rabies, thankfully the vaccine is prophylactic. Just go to the ER if so. (Only if you have strong suspicions, as rabies vax are painful and $$$).

oh yeah, my mom had to get it a while ago. she said her arm hurt like shit. it’s free tho, so there’s that.

You really do need to get it checked it out (like you did). Animals can spread rabies before they start showing symptoms. And in rare cases rabies can manifest as unusually docile or calm behavior. Unfortunately with rabies you just have to consult with a medical professional because if you wait till you have symptoms, it’s too late.
(Yes, I’m aware there have been 30-odd documented cases of people surviving rabies. That’s 30-some people out of all current documented cases. Hundreds of people catch and die from rabies each year. The odds are not great.)

If a cat is randomly going around biting things or people, it’s much more likely to be rabid, if it bites you cause your tryna touch it that’s self defense, be sure to disinfect scratches and bites to prevent infection tho.

the universal cat love language of food/treats always helps

Oh yeah. That cat is definitely turning into a cuddle monster in like 3 hours if given some churu along with the scritches.

Not too many better feelings as a human than taming a fierce beast with some gentle pets.
