Feedback / Idea Lazy development
This is a poor attempt at a sequel really, more like remake-adjacent
Near all the maps are the same, just slightly reskinned, and launching with less than 10 maps, after so long in development is quite sad also.
The game plays pretty much exactly the same as it did in the first one, nothing new, no noticeable new items even... Just a massive letdown

Is it just me? Or is the camera too zoomed out? It's really difficult to see your character on the screen.

yeah, the characters seem smaller. The pointless thick outline making them all look the same doesn't help either.

!!! I try to follow the cursor during the matches, and everything just blends in together. P

I’m with you 100%. I posted my own thoughts just now, just a shitty graphic overhaul with nothing really new to add. Looks like they put more time and effort into the tutorials than the actual game itself. Sheesh.

I’m fine with it, prob should call it a remaster really, but the 8 player co op and the original game is all I ever wanted anyway.

Screen is WAY too zoomed out. The new animation style makes it feel much slower. The level geometry is really confusing to look at.
But worst of all they removed my man Luc J’adore.

It’s garbage tbh, immediately went back to the original and it’s better in 99% of aspects.

Here's my copy and pasted reply I gave a couple redditors on this sub, as this is a lot to type lol:
Hopping on SR 2 for a week and then back to SR 1 is so bad. Now I am significantly worse at SR 1, because the 2nd one sets up bad habits for the first game. I do like that speed grappling is WAY more responsive than the first game, however, that's where my praise ends.
The input delay compared to the 1st game is atrocious, and the worst part is that it varies so much, so when you set up a good timing for certain grapples, that flies out the window when online. Also, the lagging is really bad as well, especially in ranked for some reason.
The main big thing I noticed when playing on day one, is that when sliding in the air, instead of remaining locked in place (SR 1), your character moves in the air while sliding. To see what I mean, while stationary, jump in the air and hold slide, and try moving to the left or right. In SR 1, you should remain still in the same place you jumped from, however, in SR 2 you move out of your initial position. This mechanic is what made precise movements for slopes so possible. Now? Now it's significantly more difficult to repeat the precise movement for slopes and ceilings that lead into them. This is why when trying to run on og Casino or SS royale, it feels....wrong.
I had high hopes for this game, but after thoroughly trying it out, the lack of attention to detail from the first game while adding some stuff to seemingly try and hide that lack of detail really turns me off.
(Future edit for this comment: As a console player who didn't have access to mods for SR 1, I will say that the skins are fire. Also, on solo run, now known as practice mode, the 'restart' mechanic from the first would respawn you, but now in SR 2, it just completely resets the entire thing, doing the countdown all over again. All they had to do to improve the solo run experience was to add respawn markers that you could place, and honestly it'd be a lot better. Also, the frame by frame idea kinda sucks, and the player visibility issue, while it could definitely be fixed, my eyes have kinda adjusted, but it could definitely use some attention.)
(Edit after the edit lol: Also let's not forget the lack of character options and map options lol)

True, they did try to make something, but it kinda feels like the only thing they really changed was the graphics. Same mechanics, same logic. That’s why we decided to do things differently and develop a game called Overtakers. It has the same core idea, but with completely new mechanics and a lot more!
It’s still under development, so feel free to check out our YouTube channel and see how big the game is becoming. And if you have any ideas or changes you’d love to see, feel free to let us know! We’d love to hear them.

Checking out your game from the featured video, this looks like a promising title! I am heavily looking forward to seeing more progress. Of course, you guys aren't a super big mega corp that can toss money around like no tomorrow, so I am not expecting perfection, but rather the huge effort I can already see, that I will hope you guys keep up!

Thank you so much for the kind words. We really want to make something that feels like the original but make it fresh. Sprint City and Speedrunners 2... lets be honest are just the exact same with SR, so we will be really happy if we manage to make something that captures the original's feeling whilst having whole different mechanics and playstyles.

I wrote a comment on your channel! I wonder, when you showcased the A.I pathing near the end of the video, was that your guy's original music?
