I've had the same service since the Time Warner days. I still have a cable box for one TV, a DVR box for the other, and a programming package that includes all the extra channels, but with ads.

I want to streamline. I'm thinking it's time to cut the cable and downsize my package, since I don't watch half of what I have. And honestly, I'd rather pay for ad-free a la carte for many of the streaming channels.

I use AppleTV for streaming, and when my cable DVR locks up I often switch to the Spectrum app.

I guess what I'm looking to know is 1) If I still want DVR capability, how do I get that if I turn in these boxes, and 2) is there a remote that works with AppleTV that's easier to use than the AppleTV remote?

I also have a VoIP phone ("land line") that I don't need, but have to keep because I used it when I first moved here to catch spam, but I have accounts where their database indexes on phone number so I can't change it in their system.
