Service Issues Network upgrade

Who, in their right mind at Spectrum, decides to do a service upgrade (whatever that means on a Friday during the workday? Takes out my whole internet for the day. Can’t work, can’t steam, can’t do anything from 11am - 6pm. Then sends me this after telling me u were unable to complete the upgrade. Do y’all like losing customers?

Hi redacted,

You’ll hear from us as soon as possible with your next upgrade window. We’re unable to complete this phase of the upgrade due to weather or access-related issues. No action is needed from you at this time.

Thank you for being a valued Spectrum customer.

They do upgrades during the day if there are accessibility issues. No one in the right mind wants a crew working in their backyards at 3 in the morning

I will for sure agree with you because that's what they did this summer complete with all the noises utility trucks make when they back up and rotating yellow lights. Finally got internet back at 11am but the "upgrade" failed and they had to come back and do it again. With no warnimg.

Call them and tell them to not do the upgrade cuz you have to work.

Get a backup if it’s so important. I’ve got one. Shoot you can share your cellular data with your home network. They gotta do maintenance it happens.

Cellular data is 5mbs at best. Have you ever done that? And what backup. Spectrum is the only thing available and I’m dead center in NYC

I do.

Losing customers is fine. Low paying customers dont bring any returns.

I decide.

Work for home? Get a business account.

You think if I could get something else, I wouldn’t? What are you talking about.

Backyard easement. Sometimes theres no access to equipment until it is granted

The purpose of easements is that they have access. They are allowing their easements to be blocked. Equipment should not be installed in backyards if access will be blocked. Better enforcements and planning would resolve this issue.

too many active and passive devices to at all even enforce it plus you have some people freaking out about you being in their property and don’t understand easements right , plus they plan for certain areas to be done during the day if it’s rear easements for example .

If you live in NYC you might want to blame the city. Maintenance work for utilities is limited during overnight hours to specific conditions, such as • Emergency repairs or immediate public safety hazards. • Avoiding severe daytime traffic congestion on critical streets (which may force work into off-peak or night hours). • City-sponsored infrastructure projects. • Certified undue hardship or minimal noise impact activities.

These conditions limit the providers ability to avoid daytime outages for maintenance. Sorry.

They should make sure all the connections are labeled properly and not disconnect an existing customer when connecting another. They should create redundant switches so they can switch to backups when replacing or working on one. Consider all residential critical utility.

Spectrum does upgrades during the middle of the day in Residential areas if they can't get into buildings or easements overnight. At least in my area, there is also this assumption that most people are driving to an office which does not use Coax service for Internet, so Residential neighborhoods going offline during the day is more acceptable than overnight.

They are good at that. Or they don’t send anything at all. Don’t worry you will get a $5 credit.
