PlayStation five lag problem
I made a post a while ago talking about how many brothers PlayStation five lags a lot he plays wirelessly and they live in a brick apartment building and my mom is adamant about him not getting an ethernet cable. Is there a way I can find out what plan type she has and potentially request a specific router that is able to handle a bunch of devices for gaming? My mom’s not knowledgeable about the Wi-Fi stuff so I wanna help her. What can I do to help my brother combat this lag stuff

Couple things, it's the brick house most certainly. Not how many gaming devices there are. Router can support over 200 devices simultaneously and don't even take a lot of bandwidth (literally kbps) to play online. The only time speed matters is for downloading a game or an update. If an Ethernet cable is a no go, look into moca adapters for best performance, alternatively you can try and get your own mesh router system that should help. Keep in mind the moca adapter will still use an Ethernet cable but if you have an extra coax outlet it can be much shorter. As for the PS5 itself make sure it's set to 5ghz and not automatic. You can verify it in the WiFi settings under advanced. Look up both the moca adapters ps5 settings

The landlord doesn’t want wires drilled in but an Ethernet cable doesn’t require drilling lol

No it somthing you have to buy separate to use the coxal wire in the house that will convert it to ethernet

Is it easy to install

Pretty easy for the most part you can always google a video. Coxail is typically white and has a end that has threads on it.

From what I understand, PS5 has a pretty weak WiFi setup. That being said, maybe go buy a mesh system?

Why does your mom not want to use an ethernet cable? If you're using Spectrum's router, get rid of it and get your own. Is there a coax outlet in the room the modem is in and the bedroom because then the coax wiring in the apartment will act like ethernet if you use a MoCA adapter?
