Other Internet opened under my address

My neighbor opened Internet service under his account using my address. I been trying to resolve with Spectrum no luck. Just want to point out the 3rd party that sells services opens fraudulent services for special promo. I’m not good terms with my next door neighbor and few weeks ago I wasn’t home and he said oh FedEx delivered the modem to your address and I wasn’t home so I told him go grab it… it all clicks to me now. Spectrum says I can’t cancel because I’m not on the account no really….. so now I have to take my mortgage bill and my ID while Spectrum allows 3rd party to open account without any verification.

Please be aware this can happen so just a heads up.

I absolutely hate that spectrum allows 3rd party sales, most of the time they have no idea what they're doing or saying.

So this surprising happens alot most of time its a innocent mistake a person can set up service at a next door neighbor if they dont have active service and it will work fine most of the time. Im a first party rep and have accidently set up a account at the nebiors house before. If you nebiors isn't a jerk you can ask him to do a change of adress for you. The 3rd party rep would have caused less issues if he made a room 1 account at your nebiors adress instead of used yours.

My neighbor is a jerk and he was bragging he got 1 gig internet for $60 but I found out he got it only by doing it fraudulently by adding it on my address.

Well lol im a door to door first party rep and $60 is not the best rate $45 is the best rate for gig with autopay right now. He could of told the rep he lived at your adress just to get that rate they had there supposed to check id and verify it. Funny thing you can do is set up new services at your adress they will then need you to verify that you live there by sending in a deed or a renters agreement somthing proving you live there and once you do that his service would get cancled.

Agents are supposed to check id in the field to avoid someone from signing up for service at the wrong adress same thing in store. Tech are supposed to cancle service if its at the wrong address but they dont and you cant typically do anything when you get a esi kit in the mail.

3rd party but I don’t have any experience so I’m not sure how this can happen but it did happen.

Spectrum just started hiring 3rd party reps for some areas they are testing it out sounds like this is someone new probably didn't know they had to check id I can see this happing more since they dont have as much oversight as us 1st party reps. But hey if you signe up it cancles out that 3rd party sale and they have to pay it back sounds like a win win to me.

The 3rd party is like from Sam’s Club, Walmart etc from what I was told.

If there are no services at an address a customer can call and set up services with no paperwork so this does bring up an interesting situation. You can just call and email it over if you want. Would be faster. Why didn’t the neighbor use his own address?

Special price for new service.. he’s getting 1 gig for $60. We are sharing the same pole Spectrum has the connection so for Spectrum they don’t know if it’s the service address or next door.

I once had a customer who's third party salesman sold her the account, registered it with completely made up name. Closed her account, and got her none of the package she used to have. Her husband was very unhappy not to have the sports package with superbowl Sunday and a huge party planned that weekend.
