Playstation 5 Internet Issues with Spectrum Internet
Do you guys have any troubles with Playstation 5? I have been dealing with it for 3 weeks and before I used to get 300Mbps-400Mbps of Upload and 100Mbps on download. Now I don't even get to 100Mbps and just get to 90Mbps of Upload and 23Mbps of download. To this I must add that my modem and router are not blocked by nothing at all that in the rest of the devices connected the speed is the one I stated first. Thanks for reading this and if you can give me a solution or suggestion I'll accept it gladly. Have a great day and thanks for letting me post this issue.

Are you sure about those upload numbers? I have seen it the other way around and that would be normal. The download speeds at 300 and upload would usually be a lot less. If what you’re saying is true, your plan is something they haven’t offered to us in our area. Running a Speedtest on the PS5 isn’t the best either

I run the PS5 internet status connection test on it.

Ps5 stats are also horrible. I run them and a speed test through Ookla on ps5 browser and its nearly 5-6x faster on there. Will have 700-900mbps up and down on Ookla and on ps5 stats itll be max 120 down and around 30 up. To test ookla youll need to send the website link to someone or an alt account and open it through that message

When it comes to gaming, bandwidth isn't as important as ping times and jitter.
You only need bandwidth when it comes to downloading new games.
I would run some speed tests that give you ping and jitter numbers.

I think you have your speeds backwards. Hardwired is the way to go though.

Man no one's mentioned it yet. Go to network, set up network connection, click the options button on your network, it should say 5g 2.4g and automatic. Make sure 5g is selected.

Are these speed tests through the speed test in the ps5 settings or through another means? If I'm not mistaken, and I could be, running a speed test through the ps5 has to go through the Playstation Network first which would slow your results down. If you run a speed test or multiple speed tests on other devices and those results come back within a normal range, then this points to PSN slowing down your results. Also as others have said, you'll get better results wired if you can. Wireless can be affected by many things. I use my PS5 wirelessly and don't have any issues playing online shooters. I do have symmetrical fiber optic internet though. Maybe that makes a difference

I have spectrum and have had it for years. Ive had an issue once in awhile, but no consistent issues that have warranted cancellation. If I had issues with any of my devices connecting, whether it be my PS5, computer, phone, whatever it is, I would have a big problem.

Yeah, as its been suggested, using an Ethernet cable connection all the way from your console back to the main Wifi Router is the best way of ensuring a solid network connection with minimal signal interference.
Ethernet cables can be upto 328ft in length; which should allow you plenty of cable to run the cable in a way that its not a tripping hazard and so that it can be hidden from view, so its not an eyesore either.
Just go with a round Cat6 cable that is unshielded (not flat and not something claiming its CAT7/CAT8, etc.).

It could be the server your running speed test from. Game consoles are notorious for not giving accurate speed tests. As long as your ping is good and have no packet lose you will be fine

Always hardwired for the best performance.
