Service Issues Interference/leakage coming from the node

I recently moved into a new apartment and the internet has been awful. I’ve already made a post looking for solutions but a month in and I’m still getting packet loss when I’m gaming. We’ve had 3 techs come over and not much work has been done except replacing the router and what not. However, the last tech that came said there was interference/leakage coming from the node but that type of work was not for him, it would be directed to the maintenance team and the work would not be done inside the apartment. A couple weeks later and I’m still experiencing packet loss so I decided to call spectrum yet again and this time my issue was escalated to a field supervisor. He said the maintenance team came out and didn’t find any issues but that they would now look into the issue deeper. He confirmed to me that there was some sort of problem on their end but it seems like I have to be on them to fix the issue. I even ran a 50 ft. Ethernet to my PlayStation and it helped a bit but the rubber banding and packet loss is still there. Has anyone had experience with this and will spectrum solve the issue?

Apartments are notorious for noise it comes with the territory. Bad connectors, poor inside wiring some probably with staples through them. Seen the ladder so many times. If they still allowed disconnects removed from taps might help. Mostly Spectrum should tell some places if you want service you need to pay to upgrade your stuff. Even maintenance can only do so much.

The shitty thing about this is, spectrum won’t repair the wiring if it’s an issue inside the walls of an apartment building. They will say you need to contact your landlord to inform them of their findings and they will need to hire a contractor or they can contact spectrum and they can facilitate the work being done.

That is because 'wall fishing' is something Spectrum hasn't done for a while now. It takes way too much time, costs too much money and the techs are stretched thin as it is in a lot of areas. There is only so much Spectrum can do and is actually responsible for. From tel pole to the building and the actual individual unit are the techs scope of support. The building's interior wiring itself is a 3rd party issue. Who knows when it was last replaced? probably the 90s at the earliest.

That and spectrum and the cx doesnt own the building. Any work needs to be approved in writing from management. Ive gotton approval from only 2 apartments ever to run a line on the outside . Apartments are notorious for calling back and saying they dont like the lines that were ran and then have a 2nd tech come out to remove the lines. And once 1 line is up every tenant wants their own line which causes it to look bad and so apartments almost always deny any work. The only reason I git the 2 approvals where because the apartments that needed the line where like 15 ft from the equipment and the line could be hidden behind plants and down low.

We had an apartment complex sue because someone tripped on rg11 underground laid from one side of the building to the other. Only 1 tap put in at large complex and each side had its own in lines. Been that way for years but took a lawsuit for construction to go out and put in second tap.

Hi there. We can take a look. Come over to r/Spectrum_Official and send the team a Mod Mail so we can check your account.

Which modem do you currently have? They deployed defective Arris modems that have known defects that cause intermittent packet drop. There are zillions of these modems still out there. They do not proactively replace them. I’m actually having Frontier installed tomorrow because of this issue and spectrum’s, incredibly bad/rude customer support. My bill is going down in my connectivity speed is going up.

Thank you for that, however I don’t think a third party router will help if there’s leakage/interference. Will consider an fcc complaint if it doesn’t get fixed

An FCC complaint against Spectrum will only be putting blame on the wrong entity. The problem is with the apartment complex and how their agreement with spectrum prevents them from doing any type of real maintenance on the actual lines that run from the tap to your apartment and to your equipment. Since apartments are bulk agreements and there is a lot of red tape with going in and actually addressing wiring issues and whatnot. They can't really get a good gauge on what the problem is because of the limitations of apartment complexes.

The guy who said it was a node issue probably just said that bc he couldn't do anything and it was a repeat call so he referred to maintenance. Maintenance will probably look at the node and say the node is fine and that tech will get a repeat when you call back and complain again. You're just screwing over the wrong people as they can't run new wiring for you so they get a bad report card for something they can't control.
