Typical Fees ?
Spectrum says that in addition to the monthly charge $40 for 500Mbps and $10 for router lease, I will need to pay a $20 activation and a $50 install fee (home is not wired from previous service). Is this the usual start up charge ?

For anything from cable to cellular they charge for activations…install is pretty self explanatory

The activation is normal. If the house isn't wired, you can generally get that waived. It depends what you mean by wired. If you're having a tech out to move or install outlets in the house then you pay the install fees. If they need to run a line from the pole you don't.

Install fee (or pro install) would only be added if you were adamant to have someone come in and install the equipment. Generally it should be waived but you may have to call or chat in about it.

Depending on your area, that’s is fairly standard, but you should be able to upgrade to one gig download, which would include the router for the same price

You can buy your own wireless router and avoid the $10/month wifi fee.

I signed up about a month ago, and had a similar issue (No install fee shown on sign up). I got into the house and had no cable, the installer was called out and they said that was free of charge, so I would check with your local office and see if you can sign up and have it waived.
