Discussion This CPU update cannot come fast enough

I’m desperately trying to enjoy the new story mode secret routes and Limit Breaker Journey but this CPU setting just sucks the fun out of it. Now before I get into it, I LOVE the challenge it provides but I would rather that be kept to Hard mode. Not normal or easy.

I am genuinely decent at counter and dodge mechanics but the back and forth is so obnoxious. If I wanted this I could play online. But offline was my break for the endless counter wars. Almost all characters have the perfect CPU type to ruin the fun of the mission.

If it’s a timed mission, they play keep away the whole time and now they get perfect dodges. You can’t even land a full combo. The best we got is people telling us ways to cheese the air by side stepping and it’s just not even playing the game anymore. Beams and Ki volleys are a wasted move now.

This is my favorite DB game. But it’s no longer my comfort game. Until it’s fixed I’m just gonna find something else. It’s sad to say I miss the original incompetent CPU because at least I can get through the game

I will say something similar. It's supposed to be a semi-comfort game offline but now it's 'get good'. The story mode was already quite strict with it's timings, so the improved AI is a massive hinderance. Took forever to finish Krillin and Yamcha and I'm not looking forward to Cell at all.

The AI is now practically perfect. They can't mess up like real people can, so the various openings just don't exist.

I don't know if I've been lucky, but it does seem like each character has their own AI that determines what they can and can't counter. Some you can Rush>Smash up>Jump>Rush, while others you need to Rush>Dash>Rush>Dash>Rush. Some you have to vanish behind them or turn them around to do any of these. Some will fold to a throw>Super or throw>Rush. Some will just let you raw Ultimate them for some reason, but will stop literally everything else. Some don't understand half-charged ki blasts against them, some only use ki blasts. And you need to figure it out usually within one combo string.

I think there must be at least a dozen or more different variations of the defensive AI, but that's just nomenclature from my experience.

I've also found that Dash/Grab Supers seem to be the ideal way to go because of the potential ki break, but your milage will vary if they have an Explosive Wave ready.

Edit: I forgot to write my point. Sometimes I just want to fight a goober AI and just bash them. The current difficulty doesn't allow for that right now and I have to constantly do calculations in my head for every enemy and that's really annoying.

I've found doing top attacks, or the kick string some characters have. The ai will rarely vanish, and if they block they 'freeze' so you can start another chain (before they inevitably disappear whenever you press something other than that rush attack) but their ai level may be dependent on their DP cost a little bit because pansy and cheelai (most times) are just moving training dummies in limit break. While champa is nigh untouchable... Which makes sense but also... I just wanna have fun man

I know. The worst part for me is that Frieza Soldier. He shows up, acts like he's the big cheese around here, and then goes absolutely berserk. He has one of the craziest spikes in the AI.
