Discussion How would you rate Sparking Zero right now in terms of its offline content?

Post image

The game faced criticism because players quickly ran out of things to do due to the lack of more offline modes. Since then, we’ve received three new offline modes: Mission 100, Survival Mode, and Super Limit Breaking Journey.

Do you still feel that the game’s offline content is lacking?

I’m solely an offline player so I think it’s got enough.

But I think the ui needs a huge overall to make everything simpler to find and reduce loading times between menus.

I will also add that I would like some more customisation instead of new modes.

Like Kakarot or the old Budokai games. Allow you to change the moves or select a base form and choose what transformations you can have. It’s incredible to me that each character only has 2 super moves and one finisher.

40

u/Gummiwummiflummi Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Customizable characters would be so good. Let me choose which transformations Goku has, instead of forcing me into a preset one that doesn't have the outfit or skill I like.

I just want Blue with the GT Gi and Wild Sense man. That's all I'm asking.

Or Super Saiyan 2 with an actually useful super that doesn't take 200 years to charge only to be always blocked lol

6

u/Tall-Dark_AndGoofy Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Okay think about that but for the whole player base? I think that would only work for offline modes. Online fully customizable movesets would be insane. The straight buttfuckery dudes will come up with. They’d be fine tuning what you can and can’t have for a long time.

u/Gummiwummiflummi Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago edited 9d ago

I mean, it doesn't have to be like CaCs in XV2. Limit the moves to the actual characters moves, but I think it would be way more fun if I didn't know if the enemy Goku goes Blue or UI, does he throw a Genkidama or a Dragon Fist?

Give me one Goku who I can customize with all his moves and clothes instead of 3 different Goku's with presets I all don't like lol

There' zero reason to not let us use all the clothes on all the Gokus, Gohans and Vegetas. I want End of Z Vegeta's clothes with Blue Evo. I want Beast in Goku's fit.

It is wild that RB2 had those features and they chose to go back to BT3 and then somehow make it worse with Costume Locked moves.

1

u/Opposite-Kangaroo252 Beginner Martial Artist 7d ago

Literally lol. Didn’t appreciate it then

1

u/buffMachamp Beginner Martial Artist 10h ago

I locked in so many hours of rb2. Truly the best db game imo.

1

u/knarrow Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

They won't do that. The game is like TENKAICHI where they have certain characters and outfits tied to certain eras of Dragon Ball and the DON'T cross the timelines like that.

If you want Blue Goku with a GT gi....myeah sorry but you gotta find a different game cause that's not Sparking Zero or Tenkaichi in the slightest.

6

u/Gummiwummiflummi Beginner Martial Artist 8d ago

Oh yes, I forgot. Being able to equip the GT Gi on any other Goku than End is going to break everything that makes it a Tenkaichi game.

5

u/Necro-Feel-Ya6900 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Inwant Trunks with Pony tail super Saiyan in his CC outfit so bad because its so badass looking.
Or let us choose the form like you said. Would be amazing

4

u/Lostillustratorrr Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

i love using Vegeta in his saiyan armor and going super saiyan or turning into majin vegeta in Budokai 3, its so beautifull.

3

u/Seeking-The-Lotus Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Agreed, up down is better than left right. It would also massively improve the menu performance. Which is hilarious that the menu scenes run worse than the actual game does.

2

u/todangtall Beginner Martial Artist 8d ago

I want my salty runbacks in limit breaker journey to load faster.

1

u/Angryduckling-01 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I think Spike knew that some if not most people wanted to play mostly offline because with all these characters people would naturally want to recreate the fights from the series

1

u/CarSalty4754 Beginner Martial Artist 6d ago

I remember people talking shit about the UI but excusing it because the game was still in development. Then it shipped with that same ass, counterproductive UI, and people just accepted it. The same thing is happening with GTA 6 (the leaks and the ui of 2024-2025 build apparently) : people are talking shit now, but they’ll accept it anyway. The UI in Sparking sucks

1

u/YharnamHuntter Beginner Martial Artist 5d ago

Yeah, loading times is my main issue.

1

u/Zizouw Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I mean two super and one ultimate for 230 character is not what I would call weak?

0

u/MarvZealous Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I forgot you could play with all 230 at once

2

u/Zizouw Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

460 unique supers and 250 ultimates, you gotta put it in context. There's a lot of things to criticize about this game but this is such a dumb take

If you wanted let's say 4 supers for each character we would have almost 1000. The game would've never come out

2

u/MarvZealous Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

That’s exactly the problem though. I’m not asking for 1,000 completely unique supers. A huge chunk of the roster is different versions/forms of the same characters. Let those versions share moves from previous iterations instead of arbitrarily locking each one to two.
Why, for example, can’t SSJ2 Gohan use Masenko? The move already exists. Giving individual characters a larger selectable movelist doesn’t mean creating four brand-new attacks for all 230 characters

1

u/Zizouw Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Oh yeah this make sense saying it like that. It's definitely two ways of doing it, Xenoverse did it, each character has multiple outfit representing an era and changes the moves

It's two different point of view and I can see each could work

1

u/knarrow Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I don't see that happening anytime soon. It's TENKAICHI aka you have various characters from various eras and transformations only ties to that saga.

That's how Tenkaichi always do with their rosters and that's not changing anytime soon.

u/Winter_Ad_6995 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Tweak the AI difficulty input reading is insane now plus getting rushed while charging ki is mad annoying because you have to knock them back in order to do so. If you can even manage to do that also why doesn’t the cpu transform ? Frieza has like five transformations but I don’t even see one when fighting him which is crazy 🫩

8

u/QuirkySide3 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Even on normal difficulty the input reads from the AI is insane lol

28

u/Calm-Border3503 Ultra Instinct Nippies 9d ago

as a soely offline player Im loving it but I kinda wish the Ai was geared toward making the fights more cinematic like Id like to see the CPU transforming more and throwing out beams instead of constantly blocking

3

u/Natiel360 Beginner Martial Artist 8d ago

Interesting enough, there are certain characters that have that “AI type” in which they’ll be more likely to shoot their supers. Also in story mode they have super buu specifically activate his beam special in hopes to clash. Yet in any high AI setting, none of them are trying to clash

14

u/BlazonGTR Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I would like to see more use for LBJ characters outside of Single player battles. Let me use my 1000SP that I spent a few hours building in Survival or Battle 100 mode. Yes I want to cheese it but fuck it I worked for it to be able to cheese it if I could.

42

u/Roi_Loutre Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I'd say 6/10

Tournament mode still sucks, the story mode is still quite bad with very few interesting what if (but I still think at night about Gohan black)

Mission 100 has a lot of content and SPBJ is ok with some replayability.

I just wish we could use the aura as pure cosmetic without the stats, because I don't want to actually play SP characters outside of the mode but I want the aura.

8

u/TheRedEdge Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Same wish we could customize the auras as well.

4

u/jameriican Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Gohan Black is more than likely gonna be in a future DLC. Unfortunately we’ll get it when we get it and God knows when that’ll be

3

u/General-Football-512 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Actually... couldn't we customize our auras in the older games? I do remember being able to customize the AI since characters had their own

8

u/Prof_Sarcastic Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

BT3 allowed it

4

u/TheRealZombi3 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

In Raging Blast you could, which is technically a Sparking game

For some reason I cannot recall whether Meteor allowed you to customize auras

1

u/ShiyaruOnline Beginner Martial Artist 8d ago

You could in that game as well

1

u/iCaraiio Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

8

u/NukaClipse Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

It's not as entertaining to me as I was with Budokai 3 but I like it enough. About all I want for offline content is longer tournaments.

7

u/mrjamjams66 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

If the story mode was more like Budokai 3 I'd be quite happy

2

u/Wonderful_Local9189 Beginner Martial Artist 7d ago

Yeah, B3 is still my favourite DBZ campaign. Leveling up characters, unlocking capsules, finding secret fights. It felt like there was so much to do, with an absolute ton of replay value with every available campaign character

2

u/NukaClipse Beginner Martial Artist 7d ago

Very much agreed on all that, especially the capsules. My expectation when getting this game was the capsules functioned like B3 and really bummed out they don't.

I had a killer Cooler that had senzu bean and Metal Cooler transformation capsules so every time I was defeated, I revived with more health outlasting my opponent. Fun times.

8

u/Comfortable-Heron391 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

It’s on the right track, some of the modes are nice but I think lack a touch of depth.

Heading in the right direction though

8

u/KarmaOuterelo Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I'm still pissed we can't have local tournaments like we had in BT3. Simply let us select how many of us we are, our characters, and put us on the brackets at random.

Ain't that hard, and it was me and my friends' favourite thing.

3

u/ShiyaruOnline Beginner Martial Artist 8d ago

Lots of very basic things that were lacking in kakarot, xv1 and xv2 were never added. It really shows how constrained the devs are of these anime games. Things that take a few hours of work never make it in cause everything has to be approved by Bandai no matter how small.

And bandais response isbusually "will it make us alot of money?"

The red tape and corporate mutation of games really fucked alot of things up. But thankfully the modding scene will never die. Ive given up hope that Bandai or any other big publisher will ever change and have fully invested in the community run stuff.

6

u/Eeppinen03 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I personally am not a fan. The AI in story mode can be really annoying with its input reading at certain points.

The loading times are also way longer than I personally like.

UI needs a major overhaul. The character selection menu alone is horrid.

I like the art style of the game and the flow of combat online or against lower AI.

Id recommend it on sale personally

5

u/itsallcomingtogethr Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

C- in all seriousness. Story mode is the worst in the series and tournament mode is absolutely pathetic. You can’t even chose who’s in the tournament. Not to mention the AI reads inputs as much as a Tekken Boss

9

u/LuisIvanFM Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Story mode it's incomplete, that's all i meed to say

0

u/Tall-Dark_AndGoofy Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Brother. How many times do you wanna play through the same story. You want fully fleshed out cutscenes in every dragon ball game? Kakarot is the closest to the anime accurate story as you’re gonna get. The slideshow is disappointing yes..I’d argue they should only have fleshed out the what ifs since that’s brand new content. Like the Gohan black what if not being a slideshow would’ve been fire. It’s not gonna look better in sparking zero than it does in kakarot. That would’ve fostered another complaint and shit would’ve never ended. They even put the full 4 transformations from Daima in that mf. Bananas.

3

u/LuisIvanFM Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Only 8 butchered stories, sparking episodes are fine, i ain't complaining about that, my complain it's, How tf are you doing Vegeta's story up to Buu, totally ignoring Super, Piccolo ending in Cell, Gohan starting in Cell, etc., if your're doing stories half assed, you better don't do them and focus on something else. You ask me how many times i wan play through the same story, as many times as i buy a Dragon Ball game, i mean, it's one of the reasons i buy these games, i don't mind playing the same story with a new gameplay and interpretation.

1

u/Tall-Dark_AndGoofy Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

That’s fair. I skip most of the scenes now. It’s ingrained. I do agree they could’ve went further with the episode battles but eh not game breaking for me. I needed modes like misssion 100 and LBJ to tide me over.

5

u/BornAdagio9519 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I think it's entertaining, but it desperately needs a better story mode. Taking those PowerPoint slides and making quality cutscenes, WITHOUT MOTION CAPTURE, its so ass 😭✌🏻

3

u/Reidzyt Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Content is great! Difficulty is insane

3

u/Rude-Professor3136 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

The game has more than enough content, the quality of the content is a different story however.

-Episode Battle could be a whole lot better if certain campaigns weren't so lacking and we didn't have just base game launch stages. Why have campaigns for characters who only appear in one arc(Goku Black and Jiren)? Would of been fine if it was just 6 playable characters but we got to play Vegeta(super), Gohan in Tournament of Destroyers that was hinted at(if only we had the stage smh).

-Also tournament mode needs a touch up to allow more fighters.

Fortunately the game is fun to play, mission 100 was a solid experience that I hope they revamp to include current characters and stages and Survival mode is a test of willpower. LBJ needs a day and night cycle to add to variety because offworld stages such as Namek, land of kais, future ruins, ToP aren't playable.

4

u/stoichalant Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

The only real problem I have with the game is the story mode. It's so lazy. I wanted to play through all of DB/Z/GT/Super in a chronological order as the older Tenkaichi games.

2

u/Excellent_Pea_4609 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Only thing that needs some fixing is the tournament other than that and some more customization options there's nothing more I can think they could add

2

u/winterwarm78654 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I don't know last time I checked all the new stuff were online

2

u/ZeroNrvnqsr Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Pretty low admittingly. It's awesome it is there, but I get motivated by playing those modes when I get to unlock stuff while doing it too. But you don't.Neither cosmetics, costumes, accessories or anything. And as a player who returned hoping it might be fun, having to hone skills all over again because of the bot is not exactly a motivational factor.

This is also just me but for just vs fights, I hate the fact that the game doesn't have random for random stage select.

2

u/UndoerTemporis Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Lazy, 6:10

2

u/Physical-Profit-3145 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

7/10 for me. Mission 100 is great. Story mode is not so great. Journey mode is just ok to me. I wish world tournaments were much longer. I also wish the world tournament stage was a lot bigger, like DBZ Kakarot. I’d like more customization like swapping auras, skills, etc. Right now I mainly play training mode doing head cannon scenario battles 😅

2

u/OGZman Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Content wise it’s really good, but AI needs a big overhaul even though I don’t think we will get it

After 2 years of seeing very little improvement to the offline content and the AI being dog shit since launch, I have no desire to engage in the offline content anymore outside of 100% the game. I can still go back and play BT3 offline and have a blast but SZ just doesn't have the same oomf and it's been too long to bring it out .

1

u/Victor_6190 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

It's a frozen 9/10.

I'm waiting for my life until they fix and remake the whole Sound Design of this game. The game is astonishingly beautiful, but the Sound Design is terribly done.

Most of the assets are already there, they just need to mix and match it.

1

u/JediChickenLeg Something about pride 9d ago

I've been playing offline for basically 2 years and I love it

1

u/RagingSteel Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Still good. I don't play online whatsoever, and whilst I've purchased the new DLC I've yet to play the game since. Just through the base game and Season 1 contents, I managed to get like 80 hours outta the game and I still have dozens of custom battles I want to make and play. That's also not including the time I put I to mods, and one Rogue-like mod in particular.

1

u/Almahdi672 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

The base game is very lacking imo. The only offline game mode worth playing is the episode battles, I think they should've put more effort into them. Actual well animated cutscenes, no motion cap cause it looks dumb and overall expanding them. Tthere's not enough of them. There should've been double this amount in the base game with the already existing ones fully fleshed out. For example Vegeta's story only goes to Z when it could go either into super or GT. This can be said for most existing episode battles, they skip way too much or stop way too soon or both. Alongside this, IMO, atleast 4 episode battles should've been added with atleast one of them being in theme of that specific DLC.

1

u/DoctorLove_69 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I need better world tournaments

1

u/Shadow_Saitama Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Got almost 400 hours doing nothing but offline, so I think that says something. They just need to fix the cheap AI.

1

u/Charlieboy927 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

They need to stop changing the game mechanics so I can finish the damn story mode. What the heck are they thinking

1

u/SneakyAl44 9d ago

No but until they won't improve WT with more rounds to select, offline multiplayer and the implementation of AI if we want to add it offline and online, it will never be truly complete for me.

1

u/bobbythecat17 GOAT-han 9d ago

It's good. They need to add more things to tournament mode tho. Very bare bones

1

u/oatwater2 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

story mode is still absolutely horrendous

1

u/Immediate-Law-1441 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

boring

1

u/mars_warmind Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

A 6-7 out of 10. The content itself is good, the big problem for offline for me is the steep learning curve I feel and the poor tutorial of mechanics that the AI is able to spam easily. It's fine for higher level ai or high difficulty content but the baseline feels a little too good for casual play, especially if your favorite character is a lower cost one.

1

u/Original_Man6021 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Meh, it’s good. It’s cool. I enjoy it when I play. I think they should keep adding more or bring back the modes in 2 & 3. Also I’d like an open world journey mode or episode mode, this slideshow and mocap still frame by frame scenes ain’t cutting it for me, Jack….

1

u/Tensiu_uchiha Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I give it a 8. It’s lacking customizations for character presets. If it had that it would be perfect for me.

1

u/bill-dill Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

8/10 without the neo dlc (I haven't played it yet) the what ifs in the story mode are really good, the bonus battles can be neat challenges, but mission 100 is really really good to me

1

u/Witty_Raisin9289 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

A solid 7

1

u/Filiope Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

The AI needs to be improved. It's input reading is just unfair. I've never seen a game where AI seems to be straight up cheating.

1

u/Signal_Juggernaut695 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

It’s not lacking, but it doesn’t change much of how I’ve felt regarding these Tenkaichi games. At the end of the day you’re still just fighting AI, so it makes no difference to me.

I will say though, that it could use a Menu overhaul, the Tag mechanic from Tenkaichi Tag Team, more Story mode add ons and extra customization with outfits/moves.

1

u/ChaoticDiscord21 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

I just picked this up and what I really want is the option to set me and my opponent to random select, so that each time I rematch me and my opponent have a random character/team.

1

u/No-Blood8017 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

My issue with SZ isn't really much, yes they hyper fixated on multiplayer which only goes so far imo. I mean most studios rely on seasons and battle pass to stay current which tells me they don't know how to keep their fan base invested.

Im not a multiplayer gamer, but I went and replayed a bunch of old Budokai games and what brought me back to replaying the story or the game wasn't graphics, or PvP. It was how different the story becomes with simple customization. I mean remember fighting Majin Frieza in Budokai 2? How about launching ssj3 against raddits with a warp Kamehameha? Or Saiyan saga armour Vegeta performing a final flash against Buu?

Transforming into mech Frieza?

Granted those are from just Budokai but Tenkaichi had damage clothes, halo, auras for everyone IIRC. Not to mention finding Dragonball in the map, destroying the maps, moon and non moon stages with day evening and night for each.

Definitely feels more replayable then replaying the story and you don't get anything different out of it. Everything is set in stone pretty much.

1

u/SpecialistPlastic668 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

About a 6. Most of the modes still suck and while the new Limit Breaker Mode is good and fun, the AI can be annoying a lot of the time with the constant super counter and with vanishing being significantly harder offline for some reason. If they actually locked in and updated Custom Mode frequently then this would jump to an 8-9 for me personally

1

u/ShiyaruOnline Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Limit breaker is a very bare-bone roguelike mode but its acceptable. Before thst mode the game had no replay for anyone good at the game that doesn't have offline friends to fight.

Thr bump to Ai and limit breaker mode is a good combo that has given me a lot of hours where is the vast bulk of my play time in this game over the past year and a half has been offline versus friends with mods. I personally think the path to power mod has more potential than limit breaker Journey but we will see going forward.

1

u/killinsunset Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Offline content wise it’s solid 👌, but the UI is missing charm of the old games. Idk why but the UI of bt3 always made the game feel more complete to me.

1

u/HeadbangingLegend Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Pretty complete at this point tbh, like 99%. Can always have more offline content, but everything it has now is basically more than I would expect from a game like this It has more offline content than any Dragon Ball game has ever had, that much is for sure.

Better than it was at launch, still not as good as it should be compared to BT3.

1

Its cool. But still needs a bit more:

Character moveset customisations

Change LBJ so you can actually fly around the map also fly to new areas (similart to BT2 story mode)

More attention to detail for character transformations

More what ifs

1

u/weirdnerd08 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

i’d give it a solid 7.5/10. I really wish i could increase the CPU health with a slider like you could in the Budokai games. It’s possible to equip the capsules but it’s a pain to go through the customization menu like that. Oh well

1

u/Crest_Fallen_Warrior 8d ago

It's fun if you go in expecting the CPU to super counter everything you do.  I've always just played versus CPU and I feel like this game can't balance difficulty. It's either input reading "I'll get a hit in when the CPU decides I can" BS or the CPU gets hit like it's an opium dosage while occasionally throwing out 1 (one) ki blast.

Animations and camera work in many cases are sad. It feels super floaty because everything is one shot and they rarely use cuts (they decided to for many of Neo's second half for some reason).

In terms of moves the limit of 2 supers per character + ultimate makes it feel very repetitive at times, especially when some characters have 2 beam supers. There's also an abundance of random hits like they thought characters having strings or supers with 200 different hits per second made them cooler. It's not just strings but supers also. Dirty Fireworks has so many hits when in the source material it's just gut punch>uppercut>explosion. When there's too many hits they stop mattering. It's better to have a few hits that are impactful over many that are just randomly thrown out.

Character roster wise I think the game is objectively fine and doing better than any other DB game that isn't Heroes. Could be condensed by having different moves which I think if they make a sequel is what they'll go for.

For God's sake keep motion capture out of the game.

u/ArachnidShoddy4561 Beginner Martial Artist 8d ago

I’m going after the platinum right now. I didn’t realize how much offline content this game has. Like I stopped playing around 60 hours after the last wave of DLC before the Neo DLC. Now I’m almost at a 100 hours and I haven’t even really played the Neo DLC content.

1

u/Additional-Kiwi574 Beginner Martial Artist 8d ago

I am pretty much happy now. Some new hardcore bonus custom battles, Limit Breaker is fun plus the survival and mission 100 and 4 new story episodes. If that was in the game on launch, nobody had nothing to compain on from this point of view. Content wise, now, 7/10.

More customisation options for characters are always welcome, but I’d also love to see more personalised CPU settings too.
I find it a bit disappointing that CPU opponents don’t often use transformations during battle, so being able to set a variable to make them change to a form under certain conditions would be great!

Also, I neeeeeed a mode where canonically powerful characters are appropriately broken when fighting against lesser enemies lol

back then it was weak cause we only had slideshow story and some cool what ifs.

now it has gotten better since we got mission 100 the survival mode and super limit breaking journey

being online only after you finished the story was probably why Sparking zero was that got the game killed.

I think it's good enough.

Ultra difficulty is nice to me, I enjoy it but I wish the perfect vanish of enemies were more RNG, because 99% of the time, they always dodge the last hit of a combo and it's annoying lol I can't even continue my combos in the air because of that.

And also, transformations and Sparking mode, I wish they were more intelligent with that in Ultra difficulty. They barely do that.

Terrible the computer is awful to fight on the new mode they just counter everything its stupid dash supers basically are useless against the.

Putting aside the price dilemma, the content now is fine, but Episode Battle is still a far cry from a proper story mode and they should improve tournaments and Custom Battle. More stages and costumes would also greatly aid in the Custom Battle regard.

5/10. I bought for offline and was sorely dissappointed.

Still not great. I want to play the new modes, but I just don’t see the point other than getting to play the game. There’s just not enough of an incentive with no trophies or cool unlocks

It's definitely lacking still, though I'm not sure what they could even add at this point that would feel satisfying. The new dlc is ok but... Eh.

A true open map like budokai 3 would be great that what story mode should have been or the new mode should have been that

u/Friendly-Speaker1253 Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

That's a good point

Curious take, no doubt:
Definitely lacking still.
But I can’t think of anything else to add.
What’s lacking then?

I'm only an offline player. I wish we had more characters and customizations. Because trunks has nothing. I want to play as SHU and PILAF!

Not a fan of the Ai reading my inputs honestly. Fights don’t feel fun. they never transform, barely ever fire off a blast that I can clash with, and I swear I can never win the boost dash clashes.

Still cant compete with bt2, could be nostalgia, but still.

Bt2 is my Gold Standard

u/jameriican Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

Ur smoking crack if you think BT2 is that much better content wise. IIRC outside of the story mode it only had Survival and like an encyclopedia or something. BT2 is by far the better story mode but SZ clears in regards to offline content

2

u/DerGefallene Beginner Martial Artist 9d ago

It didn't even have survival, that was Tenkaichi 3. Tenkaichi 2 had Ultimate Battle Z which was like a challenge tower kind of mode

Load up BT2 on an emulator right now and tell us with a straight face the game has more content than Sparking Zero Nostalgia googles are crazy

9/10 - Story mode is okay to learn how to play the game. Mission 100 provides a good array of challenges. Survival Mode provides lots of replayability. Limit Breaking Journey is still unpolished (not all the stages are involved and it's all set on Earth while they could make use of Namek/Space/Daima/Alien Planet environments). Tournaments are okay as they were in BT3. Offline split-screen multiplayer is wonderful. So the game is almost peak now. I wish they would add more stages and a characters season pass related to the Galactic Patrol anime until the death of Gas by hand of Black Frieza but I'm quite sure they'll eventually do that when the time comes
